iPhone6 touchscreen problems

Just got my new iPhone6/64GB/SpaceGrey/iOS8.0 and see two issues

1. The touchscreen becomes completely unresponsive now and then. It stops responding, other functions of the phone work fine (i.e. sleep button), home button, even the cursor keeps blinking if entering text). The only option is to press the home button and relaunch the app OR lock the phone and unlock it again

2. around 10-20% left side of the screen is completely unresponsive. I literally had to test this with a drawing app and found that I am not able to "paint" a portion of the screen. This causes issues when using the keyboard as well - (I cannot use the 0 or the P keys)User uploaded file

Can someone else besides Rephlexions confirm that a hard reset fixes the problem? I've already invested a ton of time into completely re-setting up my phone from scratch so I don't really want to try this myself, but would be curious to see if this fixes the problem for others.

(Hard reset = hold sleep and home button together until screen goes black and apple logo comes on (don't let buttons go until you see the logo).

There actually is only a Reset (not a hard reset) and there is no known complexity or difficulty in performing this very easy task. If you gone through setting up your iPhone from "scratch" that effort was far more difficult than a Reset. I noticed the potential issue with Touch-Screen sensitivity on my iPhone 6 as soon as I started typing a Text that the AppleCare Rep. was asking me to perform as I was purchasing AppleCare. Suddenly compared to my typing on my previous iPhone 5, I was experiencing trouble trying to type a short message. I had also experienced some multiple Taps required to open Apps including just trying to open the Phone or Mail App. This Tap issue is certainly Random and I am starting to think if I aim lower on an App Widget it more often than not will open on the first try. I am trying this specific aiming technique as I type words with an A or any key near the outer edges of the Touch-Screen. So far I haven't proven anything as yet. I did to a Reset and it takes almost no time, but I can't say that it had any effect on the Touch-Screen sensitivity. I am expecting a phone call this evening with a Senior Tech Rep from AppleCare and hope to at least learn more about this potential issue.

OK, after a full day of heavy usage, with my standard collection of media, apps, etc. on it, I think I can safely say that the full factory restore did the trick for me. I'm guessing that some corrupted something-or-other worked its way into my data (I've been pretty much restoring from the same backup, going back to the days of the iPhone 4!) I thought about it a bit, and really it kind of makes sense. These things are basically little pocket-sized computers, they run a (albeit stripped down/customized) version of the desktop OS X operating system. And our desktop machines (yes, both Windows and Macs too) also tend to get wonky if you just do the upgrade thing over and over again, so a clean reinstall is always recommended every now and again. Yes it's a pain, but it does seem to work to give things a good cleaning-out every now and again.
