They have messed up bluetooth and usb car sync up. There are many threads. Mine was ok til ios 8. Now my car bluetooth won't pair (even after forgetting device and trying again). The phone sees it in list but they just don't connect. As a double blow my car had USB radio sync. So I could browse music app on the radio this way and play tracks. Now with ios 8 that is no longer working too. All the USB achieves now is charging the phone up. some defend apple saying the car manufacturers are too blame but the problem is pretty widespread. It's easier to change a phone than a car! It's not as if updating a radio firmware / car sync system is easy.

very dissapointed with apple, why do they mess about so much. If it ain't broken then don't try and fix it. They should of just kept doing point updates to ios 7 and got it really good and stable. It was pretty decent as it was. Instead ios 8 brings a raft of headaches. Maybe they will address it but I am suspecting not

I'm in Perth, Western Australia and have a Toyota Prius wagon that worked fine with my iPhone 5 until I upgraded to iOS8.

As soon as the bluetooth connection is made at startup the screen shows "Talking" with the timer counting up and a phone number listed.

I can make and end calls from the phone itself, but as soon as the call is ended, it reverts back to the previous listed number and the timer continues.

The problem continued after deleting the pairing and re-pairing.

Initially I thought there was a stuffup, as the number showing is 61403800. 61 is Australias country code and our mobile numbers are in 04xx xxx xxx format. Sometime mobile to mobile calls insert the country code and drop the leading zero so they show as 614xx xxx xxx. My initial thought was that 3 numbers were missing, but when I googled 61 403 800, it came back in the local call format of 6140 3800, with the address and website.

Here's the website the phone number is attached to! http://www.apple.com/au/retail/perthcity/

If anyone else has a random number showing up that is not in their call list, have a look and see if it your local Apple store!

I have an iPhone 5 and a 2012 Mazda 3. Since the iOS 8 upgrade, my iPhone will sync and play to my car and will play music and DIAL numbers via bluetooth by voice or dialed by phone.

However the bluetooth defaults to the iPhone when using numbers from contacts and will not let me keep the Mazda setting. I can dial those same numbers from contacts if I remembered the numbers, but the upgrade does not like the use of my contact stored numbers.

Although my local Apple store told me face to face that I could not go back and restore to an older version of iOS, my cellular service suggested to save data to iCloud and restore to the phone's original iOS 7.

similar trouble, iPhone 6, iOS 8.0.2, bmw f10 528, 2013, CIC head unit, w/o navi, car's bluetooth worked perfectly with iPhone 5 ios6. New phone cannot pair with car over BT; moreover, after several solutions proposed here, my old phone stopped pairing with car too. So now neither of two phones pair with car. None of solutions here worked for me. Upgrade to 8.0.2 or car's firmware - did nothing.

I have a Honda Civic 2013 and since the iOS 8.02 update the bluetooth drops out before connection or sometimes after connection but the connection does not come through the car speakers and the call continues in the background. I have tried the soft resets, iOS 8 reset all settings, deleted the bluetooth pairing from both sides and re-connected, all without improvement. When are Apple releasing iOS 8.2 with these bugs fixed?

It worked on a iPhone 6 for me.

I made sure all bluetooth connections in the car audio is deleted.

The car audio needs to be powered off, from the battery and reconnected. This remove any digital information stored in the memory.

On the iPhone 6 once all you perform General -Reset-Reset, All Settings - the phone powers down and restarts. All information of the link with the car audio will need to be re inputed.

It worked finally. For some reason car connection steps are different than I anticipated, I had to dial and ok pin first on the car, not to wait when phone shows a pin. In my other car same procedure goes other way around - first pin is shown on the phone. It had nothing to do with ios8 or i6 in my case.

Since upgrading to iOS 8.1 I ca now reliably make and receive phone calls. Which is good news.

The Bluetooth Audio function does not seem to work but I may not be doing it properly.

The bluetooth audio option is enabled but I didn't get any operating instructions when I purchased the car (BMW 520 2011).

I've read some people using a BMW app to facilitate bluetooth audio.

The main thing is that Apple have sorted the main issues and I can use my iphone 6 in the car again.

I have a 2011 BMW 520d Had the same issue. Bluetooth call would not connect. A ghost call would be trapped on calling (seems it pulls the first one from your 'Favourites' on your phone).

I have an iphone6 plus and Im on IOS 8.1 - still not bent yet :-)

Anyway after a full morning of frustration I have finally fixed my phone. It works perfectly with the car and has for over a week. In fact it seems much more responsive than my old iphone5 and the sound seems better (could be all in my head though).

I have also fixed the Spotify issue too so now I can use hands free via the steering and car control buttons.

Here is a link to a rambling video I did showing how I fixed it. Hope it helps:http://youtu.be/zS9zIDQ_mlI

Note: I updated the drive in my car by downloading a patch via the BMW website on to a USB stick and then putting it in the car. If your car is new you will not need to do this.

1. On your phone go to settings>Bluetooth click the i next to your car under devices and click ForgetThisDevice

2. On your phone go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings

3. On your phone turn on airplane mode

4. Go to your car and and ensure that your phone as a device is removed.

5. Reconnect your car and phone.

6. Make sure you do not plug your car into the USB port in the armrest. Use a charger via the cigarette lighter instead.

7. On your car click the idrive CD button. This will bring up the external devices button. Click USB. If this is greyed out and won't select go to point 8 below.

8. Go to Telephone and Options. Untick and then retick the "transferring data via device". (this seems to be a glitch but this action fixes it) Go back to point 7 above. (Now should be in white rather than grey and you can select it).

Your phone will connect automatically for calls and when you want to listen to your music just press CD on idriive and select USB as audio device.

And all will work like a dream. First World problems eh :-)

We have a 2011 Sho, and a new iPhone 6+. Loosing the bluetooth connect and also the Sirius says we don't have a subscription and to call them. (Calling them, they tried to reset the signal three times. We have three years left on our subscription. Sirius said we needed to take the car into the dealership for a possible replacement of parts...) The local Ford Dealership said they just had another car in and they had to reformat the system. Another Ford Dealership had how to do this, and talks about the possible fix for the bluetooth disconnect. Haven't tried it yet, but it is another possible way. This came up when searching Sirius not working on Ford...

Since you have more access to mechanics and cars, perhaps you can try this and let us all know if this works.
