IOS 8 Home button bug

I had this problem and this sorted it first time but this could be a temporary fix judging from previous posts;

I was today in touch with Apple's technical support today and they asked me to delete all settings and data before investigating further. After making a backup I tried deleting everything – and it worked! I then restored to my backuped copy and the home button is still working! (I've only tried approx. 100 times, but 100 out of 100 seems OK by me.) My ios version is 8.0.2. Try it, and post your comments.

I was having this issue with my iPhone 5. Just got my iPhone 6. I set the 6 up as new so as not to carry over any glitches. I am still using my 5 to see what settings I had. I just noticed the 5 no longer has the bug. The home button is working normally now. The only difference is the 5 is now on wifi only. It is no longer on the cellular network as the 6 is now set up with AT&T.

Could it either be related to AT&T (what carriers are you all on?) or some sort of cellular setting?

Oh well, not following anymore as the 6 is working fine but thought I would share this. Good luck.

8.0.2 doesn't fix it for me. Quite unbelievable- but it makes me wonder if for some reason it only affects limited amount of users? There are only around 100 posts here so guess the majority are okay (?)

I've not tried to delete all setting and data then restoring yet as someone suggests it fixed their issue (they had 8.0.2). Might have to give that a go.

These kinds of bugs probably wouldn't have happen under Mr.Jobs watch!

Have tried erasing all settings and content, and a restore. Hasn't fixed the issue for me.

Me neither, tried both of the methods mentioned previously (thanks for the suggestions though!).

Oh and after restoring my device, while attempting to restore the backup via iTunes on Windows I kept getting an error 'Could Not Restore the iPhone Because the iPhone Disconnected'. It wouldn't work until I turned the phone off/on and did the restore via OS X, really buggy..

Curiously, when erasing and setting up as a new phone, rather than restoring, the problem disappeared.

Tried erasing and restoring too. No luck either.

Maybe it is one of the installed apps that breaks it if setting up as a new phone works for you? Whatever the case clearly an IOS8.0.x bug because the same apps worked perfectly happily with IOS 7.

I have the same ANNOYING issue. I was hoping that the 8.0.2 would help but NO. Any response from Apple?

MAybe it seems to be a bit better the bug.

I Am really sad about that....My Iphone this way is scrap. cannot even sell it.

MY next phone WILL NOT BE APPLE....unless they recognize and fix it...

I Have also an ipad mini without retina, not air, and there is no bug, but my iphone has it... So it could be an app which makes this bug... Maybe with an update of this app the bug would be fixed...maybe not an apple thing?

i think i got it: i deleted the emoji app and now my home button works perfect!

Thanks but that didn't work for me. Could be that more than one app breaks the home button.

Would be nice if Apple Support took the time and responded to this thread in their own official website.
