ios 8 battery drain issue and Bluetooth issues

My battery drains very fast (100% to zero in about 4 hours with minimal usage), started happening right after I upgraded to iOS 8. Issue started happening both on my iPhone 5S and on my iPad Air after iOS 8 upgrade.

I am also having bluetooth issues on my iPhone 5S, the bluetooth sync in my car behaves very weirdly after I link it up with my phone. It tries to call one of my contacts and then hangs up. It goes in this loop for ever.

Can someone help ??

Trueman! This happened to me today..TWICE. My phone turned off at 20% so then I pulled out my cable to charge and it turned back on again. I took it off when it was at 35%, and of course, it died again at 12% (just like what happened you)! Kind of sucked because I couldn't use my rewards card at the store I was at because my phone died which got me thinking: how does Apple expect people to ditch their wallets and replace it with their products when their products' batteries are always dying!

This sounds as if an app keeps running in the background although you don't use it or allowed it to use it in the background.

Did you already check Battery usage to see which app you didn't use much (or not at all) causes a major use in battery? See also this article and this one on iMore.

I've had similar issues (with same usage and standby time) after i switched from iOS6 > iOS7. The problem was a Dutch app called Scoupy that caused the drain because it kept running in the background (iBeacon/GPS). I deleted the app and it resolved the battery drain. The app released an update (months later) which resolved the drain finally. It was however very hard in the previous versions to find out the app which caused the drain. In iOS8 that is much easier now.

I've seen others who had background process off for e.g. Google Hangout and Skype but still had major battery usage since iOS8.

Please look also into the apps who are allowed to use 'Background refresh', 'Location services' and 'Push Notifications' and decide which apps you really want to be using which feature this saves battery and you can find out which one (or more) are causing the drain.

You can now in iOS8 even specify per app if you want it to be using GPS not just yes or no, but "Always", "When Using", and "Never".

IOS 8 has diminished my battery life in my iPhone 4S to about 1/2 it's duration under my day-to-day use which is very limited.

The decrease happened within hours of the upgrade from IOS 7. I have turned off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi at my office as the 3 foot USB charger does not work well with the PowerMac on my floor if I need to use the phone as a phone without constantly disconnecting it or knocking something off my desk with the cable.

If this is Apples plan to get me to discard my old phone and buy a new one it's not working, I will not remain loyal to a brand that forces me to upgrade on their terms when they demand it. I don't like the idea of switching to a competitor since I have other Apple devices but I'm honestly thinking of dropping those devices in the future as well if this is Apples marketing strategy going forward.

Additionally IOS 8 cleared out all contents of one my work exchange email inbox, but I was able to delete the account and rebuild it when other methods to repopulate it did nothing so an hour loss in mail productivity.

I've got the same battery issue after updating to iOs 8.

I have to use my iPhone 5S in airplane mode to get to a day battery duration!

And Apple consider that I always keep everything deactivated, i do not surf the web so much, but only the thing to leave my phone on drains battery much MUCH faster than before. This makes my iPhone unusable and useless.

Had same problem and solved it this way:

- go to Settings-General-Usage-Battery Usage (new in iOS8)

- see which apps are listed as your biggest hogs (for me it was Apple's Mail app: 85% of the battery usage!!!)

- fix it! For me: I turned off Fetch New Data and put it on "Manual"

- I also turned off the Location access for most of my apps (beside maps)

I also get crashes with Apples app (Safari, Settings) and other apps.

One possible solution for battery drain. Under Settings --> iTunes & App Store --> Suggested Apps -- turn both OFF. When on, your iPhone, regardless of location settings, constantly looks around for surrounding businesses/services to notify you to use their app on the lock screen. After I turned this off, my battery went from draining quickly to behaving as it did under iOS 7.

I have been a happy iphone user for years, but the same here. After the update to IOS8 my battery does not last more than 4 hours. Without using my iphone. This needs to be fixed very rapidly, otherwise I have to start using a another phone. I did all the things you can do to minimize battery use, but it just not getting better. Please Apple take action, or I have to look for an alternative phone and maybe will never return to the iphone!

Best regards.

Same battery life problem here. I have a one year old 5s. It regularly lasted at least two days with normal use (normal for me, anyway). Just updated to ios 8, turned EVERYTHING off, no wifi, no Bluetooth, no notifications,no background app refresh, and still watched the battery drain before my eyes. Normal use during the course of the day, nothing unusual. It seems like something must be running constantly in the background but I can't figure out what. Apple! Roll out a patch!
