Iphone 6 and Ford Sync Bluetooth Does Not Work

Brand new iPhone 6 paired with My Ford Sync in a 2014 Escape.

Bad news, the bluetooth phone features simply do not work. You can initiate a call form the Sync and the phone will dial and connect, but 5 seconds into the call the bluetooth disconnects the phone audio and returns you to your radio or whatever source you were listening to.

The call appears to remain active on the iPhone but you can't access it.

Sure hope Apple or Microsoft/Ford step up to fix this soon it is a real show stopper.

Nothing like in the field beta testing.

Howard's solutions works perfectly but must followed exactly.

We have a brand new Fusion and we have two Iphone 6's. Neither would connect.

I followed the steps PRECISELY and was able to connect my iPhone straight away.

You will know if it is successful if you touch the "Messaging" option and it indicates that your mail box is empty rather than "Not compatible".

We could not get my daughter's phone to work properly. We tried the steps four times and got failure after each attempt.

Then i thought, perhaps it "remember" (in memory) the settings for her phone, which she tried to pair a couple of days ago.

I had her change her phone name, deleted her old phone, followed the steps as if this was the first time we were pair and poof!!!!

Connected and working. Her first test text was "This car is stupid" from the earlier attempts where i could hear the messages but she couldn't.

I had called the My Sync folks and they were very kind but told me the problem was Apple and we would have to wait for them. I had seen Howard's post prior to the call, so i just thanked her for her time on a Sunday afternoon.

Excellent work Howard!!!

Thanks

Have had no luck with deleting and re-pairing the phone to sync. It buys a little time until the whole system craps out again, but doing this every day or two isn't really a sustainable solution. Nor is trying to reboot the phone while I'm driving.

I wonder if the root cause is hardware-specific. I dropped and broke my phone a few months ago And had to replace it with a new one, which runs into this significantly more frequently. Haven't bothered trying to take it into an Apple Store as they'll probably just tell me I'm SOL. Anybody had this problem with the 6s or 6s+?

Ford escape 2011, iphone 6s. both sync and ios up to date as of january 2016.

In the past I was able to solve problems by turning off/on bluetooth on the phone and saying "bluetooth audio" to get the car to re-pair.

1-2 times had to remove sync from phone, reboot phone, master reset sync and redo everything.

but this last week was a hard one...

Sync microphone stopped taking commands and going via the buttons would only give me the connected message for a second and then almost immediately bluetooth media disconnected. Did some searching and found the answer on an android forum.

Disconnect battery or pull sync fuse(fuse #3 near passenger's feet on my 2011 escape). Pulled the fuse 3 seconds and it worked right after. Microphone works again and sync picks up bluetooth audio automatically.

I was having the same problem with a 2011 Navigator I took it to a Ford dealer and they up-dated my radio with a sync up-date

and charged me $49.95 that is the only way you can get this up-date. The correction line on my paper work from the dealer reads " correction reprogram system according to Ford" everything works fine now.

I did the sync update myself and downloading the patch to a usb key and then putting the key in the car, going into the menu takes quite a few minutes. Maybe 15 for the most efficient tech ever; probably closer to 30 minutes so 50$ sounds about right.

But if the problem is just with a stuck firmware pulling the fuse is a <1 minute operation if you already know where it is. Learn how to pull your sync fuse. If you have to do a master reset and re-sync the phone that's another 15 minute and the tech can't do the phone part for you so learn that too.

In a perfect world sync software would juts work. You can but a bluetooth audio headset for 50$ that works forever with every phone. Somehow sync in the car can't manage to do that everyday reliably. And it's not like the iphone is a weird unknown product that they did not test on.

It's an apple thing. I was using my 2010 Lincoln MKZ This morning and all was well installed the new apple update 101.1 and now It does not work with my Lincolns Sync System. Followed Lincolns instructions to connect my iPhone with Sync to include a master reset of the system and it does not WORK. IT was driving me crazy. Asked my friend who has a Samsung Galaxy S7 to do me a favor and Sync his phone to my car. In order to determine whether it is a Ford/Lincoln or apple problem I am dealing with.

We went out to my car started up my car and he put his Samsung phone in Bluetooth mode to detect the Sync and it WORKED FLAWLESSLY. He was able to connect and work his android phone through my vehicles Sync System 12/10/ 16 7:03,pm

It's a **** apple thing. Ever since Steve Jobs passed it's been nothing but a **** Bitter apple.
