Iphone 6 ring/silent switch not working

The ring/silent switch on the left side of my iphone 6 is stuck in silent mode and when I try to switch it into ring mode it doesn't stick and just springs back down. Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks for the post; it's good to know how frequently this problem is occurring.

I per-ordered the iPhone 6S and received it Sept. 25, 2015. Just 4 months later (Jan. 16, 2016), I took the iPhone into the Apple Store Genius bar because it had 'phantom vibrations' in the absence of actual notifications, which turned out to be a problem with the vibrate/ring toggle switch. The phone was replaced.

Now the problem is beginning to happen again, only three months later, on the replacement phone. How unlucky! We'll see what the Apple Genius says this time.

There is a way to manually turn your phone on and off silent in 'settings'. What you want to do is open up 'settings'. Then you go on 'general', then 'accessibility'. You scroll down a little bit and tap on 'assistive touch'. Enable assistive touch. What you want to do is then go to your home screen and press on the assistive touch button that comes up on your screen. From there you click on 'device' and there will be a button that allows you to 'mute' and 'unmute'. If you don't like using an assistive touch you can hair switch it off afterwards. Unfortunately you will have to repeat this process every time you need to mute or unmute your device 😟, until you get the ringer button itself fixed or a new device. Hope this helps!

Ran into this issue as well on my iPhone 6+. My phone has long been out of warranty. I just started repairing it myself. This seems to be a cheapest Chinese switch problem. You can find a replacement on eBay for $5 (which is an assembly for the volume buttons and mute switch) if you are willing to open your iPhone up and aren't worried about disorganizing a bunch of tiny screws. The assembly requires that you remove the battery to get under it which is a real hassle. I had to do something similar to swap out my lightning port assembly. You need a repair kit for the screwdrivers (also $5 on eBay).

Obviously if your phone is undet warranty do that instead. I really just don't want to give up my iPhone 6+ so I'm going to repair it until something serious breaks. Parts for these things are pretty easy to come by.
