Syncing Apps to iPhone 6 / 6 Plus Stuck

I just got an iPhone 6 Plus this morning on launch day. I backed up my iPhone 5S and then hooked my 6 Plus in and restored from backup. After it was done restoring from backup and starting syncing all my apps, pictures, etc., to my 6 Plus, it gets stuck on the part where its syncing apps. It hangs after the first app or 2 leaving you hopelessly stuck at "Copying 1/102 Apps". I have tried simply canceling the sync by clicking the X under devices in iTunes. Unfortunately, this will pop up a window under iTunes that says something to the effect of "Completing Sync" and there it hangs endlessly, forcing you to force quit out of iTunes and try again. But even after trying again, it will still get stuck after 2 or 3 apps.

Is anyone else having this issue? Found a fix to this? Please let me know.

Also having the same problems trying to update from an iPhone 5 to iPhone 6 Plus. Tried everything mentioned here and no luck yet. Couple of pieces of extra information that I haven't seen mentioned here yet: on at least 2 occasions while I was trying different things, the phone just restarted. Doesn't appear to be a loose/bad cable since I tried wiggling the cable and can't get it to happen again. I'm also getting messages like this in the console:

9/20/14 1:44:18.005 AM iTunes[436]: Operation 0x7f8b0847e120 timed out!

9/20/14 1:45:18.005 AM iTunes[436]: Operation 0x7f8b099e1e70 timed out!

9/20/14 1:46:18.005 AM iTunes[436]: Operation 0x7f8b099e1f80 timed out!

9/20/14 1:47:18.004 AM iTunes[436]: Operation 0x7f8b01fddd40 timed out!

9/20/14 1:48:18.005 AM iTunes[436]: Operation 0x7f8b0441b100 timed out!

And this is happening as I am stuck on copying apps: 12 of 116. The first time through I think I only got as far as 3 out of some other number in the 100's. Of course I actually have about 380 apps so as I have read elsewhere, the numbers also seem to be in error. Not a pleasant experience so far wasting an entire evening with this.

Having the same issues restoring from iPhone 5s on ios 8 to apn iPhone 6 but using windows. Instead of hanging itunes just crashes and throws up an "itunes is not responding" message and the only option is to close it down.

Its definitely something to do with iOS 8 as I originally did the update over wi-fi on the phone and even backing the phone up to the PC was causing it to crash, that's before I even started with the restore.

So after eventually removing the last 6 or so apps that had been updated I finally got the phone to backup. Now it just fails on the restore every time as soon as it attempts to copy the 1st app. So far nothing has worked.

2nd Update - As I mentioned I did manage to get the apps copied by syncing via iTunes with the phone in airplane mode. I mentioned before that data for apps was lost. This was not true. Some for example Starbucks I had to sign in again. Others for example iBank Mobile had all my financial data intact. Any app with an account that required I log in had to be logged in again.

Also I said that iTunes would not allow me to restore a second time, showing the phone as never backed up. I was impatient. This is what iTunes showed while the backup was in progress. When complete, the restore from backup option was there. I ran it again to see whether it would restore apps to their logged in state. It ran but did not help.

I had the same issue but I finally got it to finish syncing.

My last series of moves were as follows:

  • Synced via WIFI (It hung up after about 10 apps)
  • Plugged my phone in hoping sync would jump-start (nope)
  • Quit iTunes, interrupting the frozen sync (phone still plugged in)
  • Turned off WIFI and turned on Airplane Mode
  • Relaunched iTunes and the sync process finally completed

I finally got mine to finish, but only after many attempts. When it hung, I'd just disconnect and reconnect and it would usually get a little farther.

Something is timing out in the process and stopping the sync. None of the "fixes" mentioned here or in other searches really fixed the problem - it still hung up regardless of whether wifi sync was on or off, airport mode on or off, etc.

Thought I had got mine to complete last night (via the no Wi-Fi method), only to realise it went through some strange 'capacity' issues. I then adjusted what music folders were checked to sync and it all seemed to be ok, although the final stage of syncing ('Step 6 of 6 Waiting for changes to be applied') just sat there with the bar underneath scrolling ad nauseum (as it is again now).

Have just tried to access Music on my phone only to realise that all the folders are there but nothing else - no music in the folders. . . Not sure how to solve this.

Also - losing the will - as not sure how to solve the 10.9.5 thing - can't go backwards to 10.9.4, can I?

Come on Apple - too many problems emerging for a simple soul like me. . . Need some software fixes and soon!
