Cannot connect to ad hoc network with iOS 8

I am trying to use my iPad air on iOS 8 to connect to an ad hoc network I've set up on my PC (windows 7).

The network appears under devices, and when I try to connect it says "(Name) is not connected to the internet. Are you sure you want to use this network?" and gives the option to join anyways. I tried joining, but the internet does not work.

When I set it up previously and had my iPad on iOS 7, I did not have this problem. I am not sure how to fix it.

Unfortunately I do not have any other devices to test my network to be 100% certain that the issue lies with my iPad, but this is my belief since I didn't have this problem before upgrading my OS.

Once my one got connected, it works well. I think your adhoc host could have some problems. I checked a couple of different hosts and one of them didn't work. How do you set up your adhoc host? from xp? Actually, you can create an infrastructure wifi ap mode instead of adhoc on any later version of win XP. Even you can connect to it even on Ubuntu if you can setup properly. For me, 'connectify' works. If I set up adhoc or infrastructure AP mode through windows builtin program, it is not that reliable. The reason I stick to adhoc is my old laptop wifi chipset doesn't support the infrastructure mode. It's very rare.

Hey guys, any news regarding adhoc issue? I have Mavericks 10.9.5 and IOS 8.1.2 and no luck trying to make things work. Resetting network settings and even erasing iPad doesn't seem to work. And adhoc connection is crucial for me, because I have software for my gigs which works via adhoc - i.e. TouchOSC. You apple guys - why don't you fix it - there are already a bunch of updates to IOS 8 and you still ignore this issue. And you've blocked the opportunity to rollback to previous version of IOS - so now it looks like I've thrown money on air. Please fix it ASAP.
