Cannot connect to ad hoc network with iOS 8

I am trying to use my iPad air on iOS 8 to connect to an ad hoc network I've set up on my PC (windows 7).

The network appears under devices, and when I try to connect it says "(Name) is not connected to the internet. Are you sure you want to use this network?" and gives the option to join anyways. I tried joining, but the internet does not work.

When I set it up previously and had my iPad on iOS 7, I did not have this problem. I am not sure how to fix it.

Unfortunately I do not have any other devices to test my network to be 100% certain that the issue lies with my iPad, but this is my belief since I didn't have this problem before upgrading my OS.

I've got the same problem, only I created the adhoc-network from my MacBook Pro.

Windows xp

I've been using adhoc with my iPhone 5 on iOS 7 with no issue, now with iOS 8 it drops the connection right after establishing.

The same behavior used to happen when I tried to watch any video on the iPhone iOS 7 through adhoc, it dropped the connection just like it does now on iOS 8.

I have a same problem. How to claim this issue to apple? I cannot even find any option to report this issue to apple.

what do you mean no security? No password?

I already use no password and it doesn't work.

I called to CS and the rep. just asked me to reset network and all settings consequently. Otherwise, factory resetting. I did those all and no luck.

It looks like an ios8 bug, but we are only ones who have this problem? So annoying...

II'm sure we're not the only ones, but there might be just a few people who use this feature, the rest does not care or won't search the web for a solution...

and yes it's SO annoying!!!

I was having the same issue, but when I created the ad-hoc network with no authenticaction it started to connect.

It still works 'till today.

I have tried every security options of adhoc and none of them didn't work. Adhoc was created from Win XP.

Seems that ios8.1 fixes the issue... After upgrading to ios 8.1 and resetting network, adhoc(WEP) started to work.

Yeah I have it working too with 8.1.

It's still messy to make it work, but at least it does work.

But there's still a problem with videos, when I start playing a youtube video or whatever video on the iPhone, the connection drops!

Do you have the same behavior?

Yesterday after leaving my office for an hour and coming back, the connection dropped and I couldn't make it work anymore, I tried everything with no success.
