iPhone 6/iOS 8 Portrait Rotation Lock

swipe up from the bottom as if you're using your flashlight. You will see the rotation lock icon on the screen that comes up and can turn it on or off there.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 6, also the iPhone 6 of my girlfriend has the same issue! This is a shame Apple, put your sh*t together! On android never had any problems like this.....😕

8.1 didn't fix it for me. iPhone 5s still won't rotate.

Your 5S will never rotate nor will the iphone6. The landscape rotation on the home screen is only an option for the iPhone 6 PLUS.

I realize that. My iPhone 5s will not rotate in Messages, Safari, Stocks, or any of the applications that it used to rotate in. And the compass will not calibrate because the screen will not rotate. This problem started with iOS 8.

Try this. Did some more testing and what has worked thus far is this: turn on reduce motion in accessibility and do a restart (hold home button and power button until phone restarts). Go back to accessibility and make sure reduce motion is still in the "on" position. Been working for weeks now

Unfortunately that didn't work either. All I can think is that there is some combination of apps or settings that has somehow disabled the rotation on my phone, and 8.1 didn't fix it. I fear that I will have to set up my phone as new and not restore from a back-up.

I Realized my iPad was always on vibrate (side switch) I went to my general settings then noticed with ios8 had a new Option to make that switch lock your screen. Set it back to "Mute" it should work.

Just type F#!?% YOU APPLE in an iMessage and send it. That did it for me

Swipe the bottom of your screen up and in the menu which appears, tap on the little icon bearing a lock surrounded by a curved arrow.

This will turn off or on the screen lock.

WIth IOS8, I believe it was because I had turned the physical knob to MUTE on the iPad. For some reason, the two are connected. Turn mute off and it should work.
