I called Apple Support and told them about it- they rep said that we don't get a sim card removal pin with the 6, but all the unboxing videos had the pins in them. Is this true, though?

So You don't get this with your iPhone box? Because I got this with my iPhone 4 box. Maybe they've changed it since then. Either case a paper clip solved my problem 😀 Thanks!
It is supposed to be in the packet with the instructions, legal statements, and so on.
When my mom got her 6S, it did not come with a sim opener. But when I got my 6, it did come with a sim opener.
Apple may have stopped making them, as many people figured you can just insert a paperclip or sewing needle to open it.
The SIM removal tool is only included with iPhones that are sold that are not associated with a specific carrier. This has been the policy since the start of iPhone time almost 10 years ago.

Thanks! It was because I got the iPhone 6S and 7 from T-Mobile. It comes with a blank T-Mobile SIM card, but it doesn't come with the sim opener. I guess iPhones distributed from phone carriers and choose to do stuff like include a SIM card.

Meg, I guess it depends on where you live. This is what came with my iPhone 6 which is the same as what came with my 5S and 4. As far as I know the tool is still made of LiquidMetal.

Nope. I've gotten that SIM tool in every iPad I've bought but in none of the phones.
They are usually inside the documentation packet. At least that was the case for the iPhone 5 I own, and most iPhone 5 and 5S Iv'e encoutered.
I've bought a couple on unlocked phones yes. Its possible the tool is only packaged with full priced unlocked phones. Never would have though of that.
In any case, a paperclip works just as well.
The SIM removal tool is only included with phones that do not have a preinstalled SIM. A paperclip works just fine if yours did not come with the tool.
