iPhone 6 not working with hands-free on a Toyota Prius c

I received the iPhone 6 today and registered the device on my Toyota Prius c's audio system. The iPhone 6 paired with the audio system, but whenever the phone receives a call, the hands-free on-hook switch will not answer the phone nor will the hands-free off-hook switch end the call. The iPhone 5 that I had been using (iOS 6) worked without any problems. I spent about an hour with Toyota's technical staff troubleshooting the issue and they were not able to provide a solution. Tomorrow I will go to the Toyota dealer and see if I can get the phone to work with another Toyota model to determine if it is the Prius c's hardware that is the issue or if there is a more general problem with all Toyota cars using hands-free and the iPhone 6. BTW, I have a Prius c Two, which doesn't have EnTune system. This issue occurs with the basic audio system that comes with the Prius c One and Two models.

been dealing with apple all week on a similar issue... i have a toyota camry hybrid.... i believe i have just the regular stereo.... went to toyota and got the "upgrade" for IOS 8.... i believe i have had both problems.... but i am not sure.... i was told my iCloud was corrupt with my contacts...but i also think it has to do with Verizon and the voice and data LTE.

i am now on a test iCloud account with apple and trying it for the week.... since i have been on the test account and added only a few contacts back at a time.... had to completely wipe out all my contacts... save them to a pdf and will have to manually add them all back some time in the future....

since i have been on the iCloud test account.... everything is working... let me clarify... i always had bluetooth functionality... my issue was the number would show up in this format 1234567890 instead of showing up on my iPhone 5 with the name of the person and (123) 456-7890....

so i have been testing it periodically and was trying it again tonight and stumbled upon the LTE issue.... i put the phone back on LTE voice and data and BAM - the problem was back....

So, long story short.... not sure if my contacts were ever corrupt, or if it always has been the LTE - voice and data issue.... but, it's quite annoying that Verizon finally gives up the capability to surf the net while on the phone, to only have it screw up the functionality of bluetooth.....

Verizon and apple please talk and fix this issue....

I too am stumped by this problem. Here's the scenario:

2014 Tundra SR5 with Entune

iPhone 6 with IOS 8.1

Bluetooth settings for the connected head unit are as follows:

Show Notifications - ON

Sync Contacts - ON

Phone Favorites - Checked

Phone Recents - Checked

All Contacts - Checked

I paired my phone successfully without any problems, contacts are in my address book, call history is there, i can make / receive calls and play music through my phone. I can not however get any messages to load on the "Messages" screen. It will say "updating messageS" but then the list remaind empty. I saw some suggestions on how to fix this in this thread:

"You need to go to Setting to do a "Reset All Settings", remove the bluetooth device from Toyota, pair it again. It will work."

This did not work for me either. I was able to re-pair it via Bluetooth, but the messages part is still not working. Now i get to configure all my settings again.

"1st she had me sign out of iCloud on both my phone and iPad (ALL devices that is) and verify this by going to iCloud.com on a PC (not your phone or iPad.) Go to the Find My iPhone feature and there should NOT be any devices shown. 2nd, sign back in to iCloud ON THE IPHONE ONLY. Next, DELETE your device from your hands free system and re-pair it. It should work now!"

I thought this might be the way to go seeing as how i did restore my iPhone6 from an iCloud backup when i moved over from a iPhone5. Unfortunately, this did not do anything to help either. I'm right back where I started.

I really don't have any idea what else to try. Is this an issue with the software running the Toyota head unit display? Does anyone know what version you need to be on in order for this to work with an iPhone 6 and IOS 8.1?

Subscribed to this thread. Hopefully I can get this sorted out soon... seems like a cool feature to have.

I had to delete my old phone (4s) from the truck & reset my network setting, then pair the phone only to my 2012 Tundra. working so far. able to use the controls on the steering wheel. We will see later after shutting truck down and waiting a while. I also made sure that I had removed my old phone from the icloud & find my phone. not sure why that mattered, but I saw someone else mention it.

You are not the only one. I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 6 -- which has been newly updated in OS 8.1.2. The Toyota Rav 4 2014 I have does not see the iPhone and vice versa. Pretty outrageous.

Apple -- you've become notorious for making things worse with your "updates." Fix this one or you've probably lost at least this customer to a Droid.

By adding the next to last (red) step to Toyota’s instructions, I got my Iphone6’s audio, phone, & messaging to work with Entune Audio Plus.

Radio: Press the Home button. Select the Setup icon. Select Bluetooth Select Add

Iphone Bluetooth settings: Select your Vehicle If necessary, enter the PIN, the passkey on the vehicle display, “OK’, or ‘Pair.’ On your iPhone select the "i” symbol to the right of the connected system and turn on "Show Notifications" In "Settings>Notifications>Messages," make sure that “Allow Notifications” and “Show on Lock Screen” are on. Disconnect/reconnect the phone using the vehicle’s multimedia system's control.

I have an iPhone 5 and I have recently started having problems making calls through Siri on my Bluetooth for my Toyota Highlander. It must have started happening after I updated my iOS software (not sure exactly when since I don't use Siri except on trips...)... I can make calls though the Bluetooth by keying in the phone numbers. I use AT&T as my carrier. I have checked my settings and had tech support at my local phone company check it out. It appears to be a Siri issue. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

Okay, the post regarding the disconnecting the two devices is correct (Entune and iPhone). The key is you must remove them from BOTH devices, not just unpair them.

2015 4Runner with premium Entune, iPhone 6Plus with iOS 8.1.3.

I didn't have to reset my phone completely; but I did have to make sure that notifications were set for the "TOYOTA 4RUNNER" Bluetooth connection in Bluetooth settings. This will default to not displaying notifications until you set it as such.

So bottom line: Remove both devices and set up again as if this is the first hookup. Worked for me.

And thanks to Toyota phone assistance for this walk through. They did a great job.

hI,

I Know this post is 9 months ago but I wanted to add a solution I came u with, after getting nowhere with Verizon, Apple or Toyota.

I have a 2008 Toyota Highlander limited Blue tooth and the GPS, I just upgraded to IPhone 6 from IPhone 5.

Nothing worked, Verizon and Toyota claimed the two are not compatible.

Make long story short, after couple of frustrating hours on the phone and plenty of tries I decided to "trick" the blue tooth device.

I renamed the exiting paired device name (iphone5) to the new iphone 6 device (in the car blue tooth system)..and ....walla its working !!!

There is one item everyone is missing on these threads.

For your iPhone to work correctly in the Toyota's you need to enable notifications in Bluetooth function on the iPhone. I believe this works for the 5 and 6 models.

Once you have paired your phone with the Toyota, go back to settings on your phone. Open the Bluetooth and you will see Toyota Tundra Connected.

To the right you will see the small ℹ beside it. Click on the i and when it opens the top option is to enable notifications. Turn this on and try again.

Hope this is the missing link everyone is looking for.
