Was the built in Nike Plus app removed from the iPhone 6?

It no longer appears in settings on the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, thats the issue...

i also got myself iphone 6+ and the nike+ ipod cant not be found 😟

I still have my iphone 5s -iso 8 installed on it- and it is working there!

Apple! pls reactivate/create nike+ ipod app since it is very useful for people who run indoor (e.g. i am in Dubai, hot climate) or it is handy for frequent travelers who use the gym..

IT is simply unacceptable that we cannot use the shoe sensor now. apple please fix this issue! until then I guess my iPhone 6 is shelved on runs....

fwiw, I contacted Nike and they said THEY (Nike, not Apple) phased it out.

Not trying to argue with you, just trying to make a point. If Nike phased it out, why is it still present on my iPhone 5 running 8.0.2? There is no hardware limitation of the iPhone 6 / 6 Plus as it connects via bluetooth. I find this response from Nike to be uninformed. Again, just attempting to coral the troops on this issue. We need to be heard!

The Nike+ app is not available with iOS 8 on the iPhone 6 because Apple removed the hardware from the phone. iOS 8 still supports Nike+ when it detects the hardware, which is why you still see it on the iPhone 5.

I was just as upset as everyone else.

I can offer you two suggestions: (1) get the Nano, it still supports it. (2) look at getting a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) stride sensor (Adidas and Polar make them). You can use the BLE sensor with other apps (Polar, Adidas, Wahoo).

The only hardware involved is a Bluetooth radio. The only limitation of the iPhone 6 is that they simply left the code out of the iOS build for it. The reason? That's debately. Some say it's Nike, some believe it's Apple. I for one don't care who is responsible, I just want it fixed / working again.

Perhaps it was inevitable with Nike getting out of the wearable hardware arena, old news by now:

Nike+ Running is a download. The Nike+ (or Nike+ iPod) app has been built-into iOS since the iPhone 3G.

According to this, the Nike+ shoe sensor isn't compatible with the iPhone 6. I'm guessing that means they took the Nike+ app out of iOS 8:

No, it is still in iOS 8.

im really frustrated. i have been using this app more then 3 years. how can they do such a thing.
