iOS 8 : Problems & Issues

Hi All,

Please add your issue/problem/difficulty with iOS8 on your iDevice. Please hit "I have this question too" if you find similar problems on your device and request others to do the same.

List of issues: iOS8

1. Miserable battery life.

2. No option to choose 2G network.

3. Excessive heating problem. Becomes very hot with a little use.

4. Display(flickering and color gradient) issue if the brightness is increased to the highest level.

5. Safari crashes frequently.

6. Safari gets the maximum usage of battery though I closed/terminated it from multitasking menu.

Since I installed iOS 8, the camera on the lock screen isn't working properly anymore on my (and my wife's) iPhone 5. When I swipe up, the camera starts but the screen turns black within less than a second.

On the iPad 2 and the iPad Air (both upgraded to iOS 8) I don't have this problem. It seems to be iPhone 5 specific

I am having issues as well.

  • Battery draining very quickly. In 3 hours, I've gone from 100% to 28% with almost no use.
  • When swiping up on the main screen to access the flashlight, etc, there appears to be some glitch with the music section. The volume is toggling back and forth on its own. I'm wondering if that is the reason for the battery drain since that is constantly running in the background.
  • The bluetooth connection in my car was just repeating "call ended" or some variation over and over even though there was no call connected at all this morning. I turned off my bluetooth to get it to stop.
  • My phone is running very warm to the touch even when it's not in use.

Add me and my wife to the battery issue.

The drain is incredibly fast and I do not have the option of keeping my phone plugged in during my work day. I, like many other users, have done everything suggested to try and combat the issue to no avail. Unfortunately, this is the kind of issue that has me considering a new phone from a different manufacturer. Consistent issues like this for every update (and lets face it, there are many updates) are maddening at best. I need my phone to work, and to do so for a reasonable duration under minimal to moderate use. Four hours is not long enough considering the eleven hours I was getting with ios7. Not a fan and not happy that I am unable to revert back to ios7.

Maybe apple will give us a fancy iphone case with an extra battery in it.

You can revert back. I did it on all my devices.

Here you go. I rolled my Air, Mini and iPhone 5 back to 7.1.2 and all are back normal.

http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-downgrade-ios-8-to-ios-7.1.2/

Follow directions carefully and note that this is only available for a while. Apple will stop signing the file eventually. Hopefully this will get you back to work until ios 8 is fixed.

Hello,

I have upgraded to iOS 8 on my 5s and have problem with Reminders - frequently use location based reminder for incoming calls: Decline - Remind me - When I leave. Location based Reminder was correctly set up automatically. Now with iOS 8 the new Reminder si set but without any location. I checked setting for Setting - Privacy - Location Services - Raminders. Now there is options Never or While Using the App (my option). Other apps has option Always but this option is not available for location services. iOS 7 had only toggle on-off for every app.

Can you help me, please?

Thanks

Vaclav

I am not sure about the toggle in iOS8. You can check Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Location-Based Alerts

Best Luck.

I have been a loyal customer for a very long time and am thinking about returning my device for a galaxy. I have battery drainage and several other issues. Set up took a really long time with major issues even with hours of phone time with support. Nothing was resolved. I hung up and started from scratch. What is the point of all of the new, great stuff if you can't use it due to glitches or having to turn it off to save battery life. They are getting it wrong!
