iOS 8 : Problems & Issues

Hi All,

Please add your issue/problem/difficulty with iOS8 on your iDevice. Please hit "I have this question too" if you find similar problems on your device and request others to do the same.

List of issues: iOS8

1. Miserable battery life.

2. No option to choose 2G network.

3. Excessive heating problem. Becomes very hot with a little use.

4. Display(flickering and color gradient) issue if the brightness is increased to the highest level.

5. Safari crashes frequently.

6. Safari gets the maximum usage of battery though I closed/terminated it from multitasking menu.

MIne is an iPhone 5C and had all of those problems...but I found the solution to the brightness problem:

Go to:

1. Settings

2. General

3.Accesibility

4. Zoom

5. Switch Zoom Off

6. Screen brightness was then restored and no wobble etc.

Oddly, this bug does not manifest itself on the iPhone 5S

Battery life is pants: iOS8 onwards resets a shed load of auto notifications etc, but there is a good post on the Net "Saving iPhone Battery Life" which guides you through all the things to switch off after Apple bo77ocks update takes control of your settings (notably PRIVACY SETTINGS - US Anti-trust issues spring to mind).

MY iPhone got so hot I couldn't freaking well keep it in my pocket!

Thanks Apple Inc: u r freaking shysters.

Here's my lovely list - using an iPhone 6 with iOS 8.0.2:

- Messages failing to send on both iMessage and normal message. This has happened while both on wifi and with at least 3 bars of phone coverage..

- Message app continuously crashes.

- Other apps continuously crash.

- Touch screen can be intermittent when trying to place a cursor somewhere on an internet page, or in a message that I am typing.

- Phone coverage is intermittent now. This is noticeable in places, such as at home, when it never used to have any problems. Calls drop out or cannot be made at all. When on a call sometimes the call will be dropping in and out, even though the phone says 4-5 bars of reception.

- The phone will not stay connected to wifi. It is constantly dropping off and I have to restart my phone before it will connect again. All other products, such an my husbands’ phone and our iPads are not experiencing this problem.

- When I am able to connect to wifi and use it the speed is drastically slower than when using other Apple devices on the same wifi connection.

Let's hope that 8.0.3 fixes everything so we can finally use our phones as we are meant to be able to.

Maps: map zoom level unrelated to sotart and stop icons. Overview does not show route, only start and stop. Background map does not change regardless of operation (i.e. Zoom, pan).

Having to reboot after every time I switch between Resume and Overview in Maps. Buggiest iOS update ever.

Running iOS 8.0.2 on an iPhone 5.

I own a Iphone 5 32gb

Been on IOS8 for a few days; having the following problems:

1: Battery life has exponentially shorten

2: Random crashes from app's

3: Sometimes with the new dictionary in iMessage, when I turn to landscape I get a black screen for a small second an after that the mic has suddenly been selected

I liked the Apple products but it's getting worse and worse since Steve Jobs passed away. The quality of the products released is not nearly as good as before.

Wifi issue:

Apple disabled LEAP authentication method by default - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6441

But they mentioned nothing about how to enable this authentication method where required. I am not being able to connect to my office network which is a WPA2-Enterprise network with Encryption type AES and authentication method: Cisco: LEAP. Gives error "Incorrect username or password". Does any body have any solution?

Your issues 1 and 3 are one in the same. There is some process on your device that is stuck in a loop (or doing something that it should not be doing.) High use of the CPU will heat the device and drain the battery.

Try closing all of your running apps and see if it cools. Then restart each app one at a time and wait and see if you can figure out if one starts killing your device.

I've also seen this happen when I sent (and failed) a huge email with attachment. The Apple mail app tried to send the message over and over and failing constantly it ate my battery. Deleting the message from the outbox fixed that.
