You should go to the apple genius to get the issue verified and resolved. Sooner is better I guess.

I too was having the same issue. I bought two iPhone 6 (both 128GB), they both seem to have this issues with the contacts inside the headphone jack at first. The sound would cut in and out if you gently wiggle the headphone stem while it’s plugged into the jack. It would appear as if the contacts are too small or not protruding enough inside the jack to make solid contact with the 3.5mm RCA stem on the stock Apple headphones. The problem seemed to go away for me after I inserted the plug in repeatedly a few times but there’s definitely a break in period.

I experienced the same issue today. I had my headphones plugged in an siri would randomly come on, the podcast and music app would pause and unpause repeatedely with any movement I made.

I have the same problem with my brand new iPhone 6 128gb, just opened the headphones that came included in the box plugged them in and they would not go all the way in. You can clearly see and feel the jack come in and out. Not sure if this is a ploy to have you buy bluetooth headphones, but I feel the ones that came with the phone should work without a problem. I have been a loyal Apple follower over iPhones, iPods, Macbook Pro, Apple TV, and iPad with no issues. Did some research as well as read the directions to make sure I was not doing anything wrong, maybe there was a trick I thought I was missing. No such luck, but I did stumble upon this board with multiple people experiencing the same issues. I could not even use my phone to run with as the jack kept coming dislodge just a bit causing the song to stop while when it was working I heard a constant popping in my ears as the jack jostled about.

I hope there is a simple fix to this or maybe an issue in a small batch of phones, I love the new phone in every other way but the phone should work flawlessly with the included accessories!

My iPhone 6 earphone jack takes a bit more effort to push in or pull out the earbuds plug. But it definitely does go all the way in. Make sure the white dongle is flush with the jack - the plug should go all the way in. No audio issues for me, just a little more effort to plug in.

Apple rep told me this can happen and should loosen up over time.

iphone6, same issues. Siri keeps cutting in when headphone jack is put in. Just started noticing today.

I had the same issue with the iphone 6, the headphone jack was loose and making crackling noises until I realized I needed to push the headphone plug ALL THE WAY in until it snaps in. Until the white part of the jack is flush with the phone, Then the volume control on the headphone cord wouldn't work, so I shut the iphone6 all the way off, then back on and the volume worked on music and phone calls.

Yup, that's the solution. Push the plug all the way in. It takes a little more effort, but I suppose its's better to have a plug that fits tight rather than one that's loose.

Same problem here with my iPhone 6. I got a headset with a microphone and one button (beyerdynamic). It worked perfectly on my iPhone 5. Now with the iPhone 6 I also experience strange behaviours like music suddenly stopping, skipping or Siri popping up. I think the problem (at least with my device) is that the uppermost contact of the headphone jack touches the metal body of the iPhone which is probably grounded. This contact is for the microphone according to the AHJ connector layout. Shorting microphone and ground is the same as pressing or holding the headset button.

If I put some scotch tape around the headphone connector the headset works fine. The problem does also not occur using the Apple Earpods. The reason might be that the headphone jack of the Earpods keeps the diameter at the upper end, so that only the white plastic rests on the metal body instead of the microphone contact of my other headset.

hendrik, your post and picture are spot on with the issues I am having. The jacks with the metal at the base are the ones causing the issue. I hope Apple addresses this issue and sends us a rubber bumper to avoid the shorting.
