IOS 8 copy paste problem + slowdown

Upgraded my ipad2 to ios 8. General slowdown, apps crashing on startup, huge lag when typing or selecting email from inbox. I've also experienced a strange copy/paste issue In Safari, facebook and other apps. When I copy and try to paste, I often get an old item I copied instead of the last item. Yesterday I tried to paste a URL repeatedly and kept getting text I copied from notes earlier in the day. I gave up. Today when I tried to copy and paste a sentence from a website, the URL that wouldn't paste yesterday kept pasting! Anyone else experience these issues?

I tried copy+ pasting a YouTube link in safari earlier on my iPad and I couldn't even get the option to pop up! Held my thumb down on the screen and the 'select/cut/copy/paste' option would flash for a second then disappear. I tried at least a dozen times and couldn't get it to work. I ended up having to paste the link into my notes and retype the entire thing by hand in safari.

UGHHHHH apple come on! I've left feedback numerous times! This is out of control.

I made the mistake upgrading to 8.1 on my mini last night before reading about the problems. What a cluster f...... After reading entries here I just did a reset all setting. Copy and paste seem to be back. At least the it worked the 2nd time I tried it on the first sentence here.

Safari seems slow. I've worked on two different private & secured networks and it was slow on both.

My fascination with iOS is waning. The mini was gift last year and I use it a lot but there are things that Andriod & Windows do better imho. After this update with its problems I would not recommend iOS to anyone. It's saving grace is FaceTime and its ability to link its calendar to a Yahoo calendar.

I hope Apple is reading these complaints and working on fixes.

I would agree with you about that clean install, and I've been telling others to do that if they have any signs of troubles, no matter what they are. It simply can't hurt to do that. Of course, I always warn about doing their backups too, and to really understand how their backups work. I have a list of Apple Support documents that I always put out. The first ones at the top are about backups, and then the one at the bottom is about resetting to factory default with iTunes.

ALSO ... be aware that if you have activated the "iCloud Photo Library" ... your "iCloud Backup" will NO LONGER contain any backup of your photos. That's a real big warning here. Don't let that one get by you!

I have the same issues, including using Dolphin or other browsers. Combined with slowdowns, crashes, and random reboots, I'd second the thought that it's memory-related.

Also, I was trying to figure out why send to Evernote didn't work correctly for me anymore in Pocket, and I've put two and two together and am guessing it's related to the clipboard--so if you're having trouble with other apps not working right anymore, this might be the cause.

Pretty big deal, Apple. It's 2014 and we can't cut and paste?

I used to leave a bunch of apps up (in the background) but I don't do that any more. There does seem to be more memory demands, in iOS 8.1. So, I take off (i.e., "quit") the apps that I'm not using for the time being. That helps with the Safari page refreshes, especially when I'm typing something into an entry field, like on this forum. I also have an app that will clear out memory that is not being used, and that helps sometimes.

Had the same copy/paste and general slowness. Went to see a Genius. He made a clean install of iOS 8.1. Copy/Started to work as expected and the device was noticeably faster. I started to add my apps which were all lost after the clean install and set up my email, Twitter, etc. accounts. Within a day the same copy/paste problem and the sluggish keyboard behaviour returned.

All the trouble for no gain.

I feel you're pain. I reset all my settings, and that appears to have remedied the copy and paste problem ... for now. In its stead, the mail immediately crashes every time I first try to open the app. After that first crash, it opens. This OS is replete with bugs, some of which, like copy and paste, have been around through too many revisions of the operating system. I'm sure that Apple is as annoyed as we are, but it certainly doesn't show.
