iphone 6 cellular reception

OK so I've used iPhone since an iPhone 3 when apple anted to lock it into O2. I just bought payg and Jailbroke it. Being an avid apple fan I pre ordered and received the IP6 on release day. Have to say there are only so many ways to make a phone but the IP6 is really nice. However, the reception is shocking. The IP6 seems to drop cellular to No Service really easily when the IP5 still sits at 2 bars. Swapped the sim to check and it's the phone.

Let's have some honest answers, if the signal reception is weaker tell us now. I need the reception and a phone is now a phone so i'm getting to a point of practicality not brand. Let's hope the IP6 is as good as the rest.

I can report the same problem on AT&T. Both my wife's and my iPhone 6 go to No Signal periodically in our house, and that never happened with previous iPhones. I had the iOS 8 beta on my iPhone 5 for months and did not notice the problem, so there is something with the 6 that is wrong.

Having said that, my phone calls have been completely fine, though I don't make a whole lot of calls.

I'm hopeful that this is addressed in 8.0.2 since one of the things they pulled the 8.0.1 update for was a problem with the iPhone 6 showing No Signal.

I'm currently experiencing the same problem using iOS 8.0.0 - dropped calls, delayed voice connection upon answer, zero to two signal strength bars (iPhone 5 - five bars) and frequent drop-outs once I'm able to successfully connect to an inbound call. I've reset my Network Connection (Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings) and re-booted numerous times to no avail. As it stands now, it's useless as a phone.

Same problem here on Vodafone in Germany. Regularly the phone (iPhone 6) drops to "no service" and it takes a long time to reconnect to any service (toggling flight mode makes it reconnect immediately though). My 5s never had this problem in the same locations.

When I let the phone reconnect on its own it takes a few minutes or so. It then only reconnects to the 2G/3G network, no longer 4G (perhaps if I wait long enough it will... but I'm impatient). I have to toggle flight mode to have it reconnect to 4G again.

I still have reception issues at work. But have always had bad reception there...and it's hard to say if it's the same or worse than my previous phones. I will say that ever since calling ATT and having them fix a supposed network issue with the towers near my home.... I havent had any instances where I lost service at home. It's been solid for the past two days where before it was happening very frequently. If it hasn't gotten better at home I would have definitely gone to apple to try and swap it out.

I reset and did everything. Turning off 4G I think did improve it slightly. However, I rang Apple and they agreed I should replace it so I contacted Vodafone and the new one arrived this morning. I still reads no service on the kitchen top, but does pick up again.

I am going to monitor it over the next few days.

Having said all this, if IOS8.0.1 screws the cellular connection there may be an underlying problem with it which only affects those in the weaker signal areas.

My suggestion is get them to replace it and then we'll know if it is hardware.

OK, everyone. I went to the Genius Bar again. This time I asked for, and got, a replacement iPhone 6. I booted It up as a new phone, had icloud do its thing. It got a great cell signal and I think it was hardware all along. But I did not restore the backup I had made prior from the previous phone. I decided that since the new phone was working perfectly that I didn't want to take the chance that it was software related all along (even though I really believe it was hardware).

It has been a bit of a pain to fix everything the way I need it, but the phone still is great. No issues anymore.

Go get your replacements everyone!
