I stayed up all night figuring this out and it finally worked. However, the apple support, nor my WiFi provider knew what to do. They are no help, and I agree with most of these posts, these products are too expensive to get such poor customer assistance. I hope my resolution helps... so here goes!
All you have to do is change the name of your network and the the pass code. I did this simply by just adding a number to the end of the current network name and the same number to the end of the pass code so it would be easily remembered. This will change nothing else. Unfortunately, everyone else will have to sign on again, but your devices will immediately pick up the new network name and it will work!
The hard part is that this has to be done through your IP address ( this information can be found under your network settings right on your computer under details), so you go to the internet and type in your IPV 4 router address just like you would type in a url, and it will take you to your server website. There you should have access to your WiFi settings to change this. However, it may ask you for a user name and a passcode to get access to your setting, and worst case scenario is you have to call your WiFi provider to help you out with this part, but whatever you do do not reset everything as this is what your provider will suggest..... That would be a nightmare. Just change the name of the network and the pass code, and it will work! I really hope this helps!
the best way to get a direct answer is to post a new question, rather than tag on to a thread with over 150 posts.
thank you everyone to help and the information
So, I was having this very same and very frustrating issue over the past couple of days..
Last week, I went out of town and stayed in a hotel. My son took his Xbox One and wanted to connect to the hotel's Wi-Fi but it requires accepting the terms, typically rerouting your device to a web page to do so. Well, this doesn't work using an Xbox. So, after searching the internet on how to do this, I found a video explaining how to use your iPhone's Wi-Fi address, in lieu of the Xbox's, to enable use of the hotel's internet through the Xbox. I followed the instructions, and it worked fine. Gaming and Netflix, here we come...
When we returned home from our trip, my iPhone automatically reconnected to our home's Wi-Fi network without a hitch. However, after a couple of days, my phone would not connect. It was asking me to enter the network's password and continually rejecting the correct entry. I tried everything I could find to do. Reset network settings on the iPhone, restarting my router, checking the advanced settings on my router, everything... I took several tips from these posts as well and no luck. Then I remembered that we had used my iPhone's Wi-Fi address on the Xbox last week. I just assumed that when we reconnected at home, the Xbox would go back to it's original state. So, I checked it out. Turns out, my iPhone's address was still in the Xbox which has been used several time since our return. So, I changed the Wi-Fi address on the Xbox to it's original address, and bada-bing, my phone was once again connected! So relieved!
So, if you know or maybe don't know if your gaming system was recently used this way, check it out!
I was having this problem for a while I have two IPhones and an ipad problem went away when I changed the name of one of the Ipones they were both named IPhone so I guess one was getting rejected
Well this is currently happening to me in my iPad Air 1 which I have since 2013. Today it was working perfectly at my friends house, later I started using my iPad and the wifi was off which it wasn't like that before. I inserted the password and it said incorrect. I told my friends to put the password for me. It didn't work! When I got home I thought it was just there, but it kept happening. I am writing this in my iPhone 5c and wifi works perfectly help me please
Hi SarahM07,
My mom is having the same issue on her iPad. Have you found a solution yet? =/
Thanks,
Vero.D
Hello Vero-D,
Yes, I did solve it! I tried clicking on "Forget Network" and then I rebooted my iPad, then I inserted the password. (It may tell you that it's incorrect so try inserting the password multiple times.) it worked for me. That problem happened to me multiple times after solving it, I think it's just my iPad.. I've been having many problems with it. I hope I helped.

I have
We shouldn't have to reboot our wifi at home or work to get our wifi!!! My password is correct! I have to reboot the router and modem to get my connection back! This is ridiculous.
Just so you know my cheapo router is a very expensive one and has nothing to do with this Apple issue.
It's not an Apple issue, it's a router issue. You can continue believing it is an Apple issue, but if you start with that assumption you will never solve it.
Maybe you shouldn't assume you know it all.
Do everyone a favor and don't reply to any more problems on this site. It's bad enough we have to deal with Apple. But a nasty know it all IT jerk from NY we can all do without.
Thanks for reply. I got a nasty answer from an IT Finch who told me it was my cheapo router. He needs to get booted off this site!
Same issue seemed to start with the last update on IOS
