No SIM card installed keeps popping up

I have been using my wifi/cellular iPad mini without a SIM card for the last eight months without a problem. I 'upgraged' to os8 a couple of days ago and now I get a pop up telling me there's no SIM card installed every few minutes. It popped up twice whilst trying to type this message. I have looked everywhere in settings for a way to disable it, thinking that perhaps certain apps were prompting it. Will I have to put a sim card to avoid this? I was told when I bought it, that without a SIM card it would be just like a wifi only ipad. or will I have to reset it to factory settings and load everything again? Thanks in advance.

Asking Siri to "Turn off Cellular Data" effectively works in moving the Cellular Data to OFF position (you can't do it manually as the option is grey-ed out if you don't have a SIM card). However, even after Siri disables the cellular Data (in Settings) I still get the pop-up "No SIM card installed" error...

Why hasn't Apple fixed this already?? This wasn't a problem prior to version 8 of IOS.

I have tried to solve this problem today and it appears that I have or at least in my case.

I went to Settings > General > Restriction >Don't Allow Changes checked. Problem solved in my case

Problem number two is that I am going to bet everyone that goes in to restrictions find themselves locked out. Their passcode will not work for them. Which is another bug that Apple has been very very silent about. it is a problem which i had to correct using Ibackupbot and step by step instructions on the net. Really

Apple get your act together it is pathetic i spent my entire Sat morning correcting two problem that you should be addressing when they happen not 5 updates, 6 months and 13 pages of message board complaint later.

Hi,

I have an iPad Retina 64Gb and I have the same trouble. The SIM card is not properly recognised the icon about the level of signal for the 4G connection some time says to you is connected properly to the 4G provider but some seconds after the iPad is searching for a data provider.

I decided to work without the SIM card the system is always requisting for installation.

When the iPad is switch off for some minutes and you switch on for working you are requested for activating it. The same as if you install it as new.

I also reset it a lot of times and I have the same situation.

I am currently working with versión 8.1.2 but it is happening since the versión 8 has appeared in the market.

I have replaced the SIM card and it is the same trouble.

Apple support says me it is a trouble wiht the SIM assembly and they request me 300 € for replacing the device completely.

I see the same trouble in a lot of user at the web and I wonder if it is a trouble with this software release and also how is it possible to damage the SIM assembly in an iPad? what do you have to do for damage it? I cannot find the proper explanation.

I would like to know your feedback about this situation.

Thanks in advance for your support.

spoke with Applecare. No help at all.

Told me to take a sim card from my iPhone and put in in the iPad ( can't do that as its a company phone)

then said to go buy a sim card or prepaid cell service. ( don't want that.. why should i have to pay to fix the error? isn't that what Applecare is for)

Will try calling again and see if i get someone that knows what they are talking about.

This nasty SIM pop-up bug has been frustrating me for a couple of months. Apple doesn't even acknowledge the problem ignored it. I've stopped recommending apple products as their client care has seriously degraded.

Along with this annoying "no SIM" pop-up bug, my iPad3 was giving me instability issues. I couldn't delete applications for some reasons... I could get the apps to "shake" but couldn't get it to delete. The app icons would only continue to "shake" until I did a hard reset (Power + home button). So I did a complete factory reset on my iPad and re-installed from a backup. Oddly enough, I have not received a SIM pop-up since (it's been about 10 days now).

I suggest you might want to try to do a backup, completely reset your iPad and re-install.
