No SIM card installed keeps popping up

I have been using my wifi/cellular iPad mini without a SIM card for the last eight months without a problem. I 'upgraged' to os8 a couple of days ago and now I get a pop up telling me there's no SIM card installed every few minutes. It popped up twice whilst trying to type this message. I have looked everywhere in settings for a way to disable it, thinking that perhaps certain apps were prompting it. Will I have to put a sim card to avoid this? I was told when I bought it, that without a SIM card it would be just like a wifi only ipad. or will I have to reset it to factory settings and load everything again? Thanks in advance.

You should be able to use these devices to their fullest capabilities. I have a cellular account that I pay for and should be able to use. Turning off functions is merely placing a bandage over the gaping wounds. None of the suggestions stated above work. Apple needs to perform drastic testing of upgrades and devices and then do it all over again before these things are released tocnsumers. I use Apple wifi phones at work for emergency contact between staff. These phones have also been completely unreliable.

I left Android system to give Apple a second chance. and regret it every day. The problems they have with upgrades and the support they provide are horribly inadequate.

At my first opportunity I will be going back to Android.

I have had this same problem for a while in my iPad with Retina display. Looking at the device console in Apple configurator 2 during the popup, is shows some errors about baseband reset and resetting SIM information. I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or problem in device drivers, but very annoying indeed.
