iPhone 6 won't turn on!!!

I just bought my iPhone 6 today. I put it on charger and it was charging the whole time when it suddenly turned off and won't turn back on. What should I do? How did this happen?

iPhone 6, iOS 8

I'm having the same issue, I was using a music streaming app with my phone charged to 80% and then the phone randomly turns black and won't turn back on. Can anybody help me please!? the home+sleep button method is not working for me.

So I was watching Netflix on my iPhone and it all of a sudden turned off. Now it was at 75% battery life, so I was surprised when it abruptly shut down. So, I tried to turn it back on and nothing happened. I plugged it into the wall and it did turn on, but it wouldn't let me enter my passcode to get in. And then it shut off again. So once more I tried turning it back on and a message in a red circle showed up, but it went away so fast I couldn't read it. I currently have it plugged into my laptop and have iTunes open but it's not connecting to my computer or even turning on. Any ideas to what the problem could be?

Hello there, Markuuz14.

The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting the issue you are describing:

iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off

  1. Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
  2. Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
  3. Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
  4. After at least 30 minutes, if:
    • The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen User uploaded file. Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
    • The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
    • Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
  5. If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
    • If the display turns on, go to step 4.
    • If the display remains black, go to next step.
  6. Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
  7. If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

My iPhone 6 has been having this problem for weeks. Will try what you suggest in your reply. But today... when i did a hard shut down... turn on... (held home button and on-off switch for about a minute) a red screen appeared after the start-up. Showed the gray screen with the apply logo... then red screen... then gray screen with apple and powered up OK. also been having some problems playing in car... (2011 BMW 528i)

thanks for your suggestions.

The same happened to my 1 month old iphone (tempered glass plus spigen tough armour case protected). I took a photo, closed the iphone 6/64Gb - iOS 8.3 - 80% battery, by pressing the power button, as usual, put it into my pocket, and when I tried to use it again by pressing the home button to wake it up, it's totally dead.

I haved a 3GS with similar problems (random shut-down when the battery is below 20%), so I use the same workarrounds and the one that worked was: connect it to the usb cable to the computer (I guess connecting to the line is fine too) and press power and home for 15 secs or so (by reading the Stalin73 message I guess it works just by pressing Home button) and the iphone restarted. I hope the problem will be found soon and fixed in a future release of iOS.

It's unbelivable that this device have such kind of problems.

I got new I phone 6 silver as upgrade few months ago unfortunately the product was a damaged one. The front screen was not tightly attached to the bottom case. Apple exchanged me with the new product. It was working perfectly fine until I noticed that the device turned off automatically few days ago. The battery charge is consuming faster than ever. Now, It is turning off frequently and taking long time to restart. I don't know what is going on with the product. Really frustrating!!
