iOS 8 Calendar on iPhone showing GMT times for new events.

Hi everyone,

Since updating my iPhone 4S to iOS 8, the Calendar app now shows all my newly added events with GMT times, and not the local time (as I am not in GMT, I am +9 hours). All my previous and existing entries are displaying normally. I have not changed any settings at all. However, if I open one of the new events and enter the events details screen, the local times are clearly displayed along with a GMT equivalent time underneath it.

I have tried changing settings but nothing shows my events in local time as it did before the upgrade to iOS 8. Any ideas? Is this a bug? Am I missing a new setting? Many thanks in advance for your help or advice.

Cheers,

James.

sorry no solution here, just jumping in to say I'm having the same issue on the 6. I hope there is a solution as this is pretty confusing.

<<<<<<< DO NOT FACTORY RESET AND/OR WIPE YOUR DEVICE!!! >>>>>>>

Don't do this even if directed to by Apple support staff, many of whom STILL appear not to be aware of the GMT Bug. Resetting your device does not fix this issue because this issue is generated by BUGGY CODE IN IOS. Resetting just sets your device back to factory defaults including a virgin copy of iOS which STILL INCLUDES THIS BUG.

Resetting your device will at best, waste a lot of your time, and at worst end up causing you to lose data that you want to keep.

Instead of wasting your time doing a reset, go and register a bug report with Apple:

And if you are really bored and/or frustrated with Apple's total lack of response to this issue, do a Google search for "iOS 8 GMT Bug" and go leave comments on any of the many articles about this bug in mainstream media outlets, including but not limited to Forbes and MacRumors. Negative stories, along with lots of user comments to the effect of "I can't believe Apple has ignored this for over 4 months" etc. might cause Apple to get off the stick a little faster.

The GMT "bug" was intended to be a feature in iOS 8, and I won't argue the point, or respond to comments as to whether or not it is truly a "feature". I sure don't like it, but I understand people that work with others in different time zones find it useful. Regardless, it would be nice if there at least was an option to turn-off the "feature".

DON'T waste you time with workarounds.

DO let Apple know what you think by leaving clear, concise, and unemotional feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Unlike the Support Community, Apple does review comments sent to the customer feedback URL, and forwards valid comments and suggestions to the appropriate groups within Apple.

Come on Apple... This is just insulting. If you wanted to join the ranks of Comcast in customer service, keep doing this stuff.

Just fix it already. You have some of the best programmers in the world and a bunch of ****** off customers. Seems like a pretty simple solution.

I'm thrilled you added a "new configuration options for education standardized testing." That's really great that the standardized testing, which is a load of crap in the first place, was a priority as opposed to getting one of the basic functions of your calendar app to work properly.

Borg22222,

It is a bug, have spent several hours with the Apple Genius and the first thing they addressed was did I do the update (was supposed to fix this issues) It did not, time zone support changed no effect. it is definite an Apple issue. If you stay truly in the world of apple the bug does not surface but use another source to sync with -- the GMT "feature" get stuck on.

Having the same issue -- it doesn't sound like Apple is going to resolve the issue any time soon. Mine only started happening when I did the Latest OX Yosemite "upgrade" to my MacBook and synced it to my iPhone. They are still saying it's a gmail/google issue through the Apple tech support line. I was speaking to a Senior Advisor who said it was a google issue. 😕

I need an upgrade to my upgrade..
