Why can't I download or update apps on iPad running iOS 8

Updated my iPad Air to iOS 8. Apps requiring updates and any new app downloads I tried on my iPad Air have been sitting in wait status for hours. I did the following to try to correct the problem but with no success...

- Turned off and restarted the ipad

- reset the iPad without losing previous data

- signed out of iTunes account and signed back in.

My cellular and wifi router are working fine. My iPhone 5 update and iPad mini updates to ios8 worked fine and new apps and any updates are downloading without any problems. I have auto download turned in for apps so when I initiate an app download on my iPad Air, it downloads fine onto my iPad mini even though it is "hung up" on my iPad Air.

Is there anything else I should try before taking the radical step of wiping clean my iPad Air?

EExactly same experience. I wiped the syste, after extensive discussions with support. This is a many hours exercise. Worked for two days then back to same issue. We have a major bug here! Apple I hope is monitoring this! Have set up a call again with support today to be sure they have this prioritized. Oddly the apps all seem to work so I am ignoring updates for now!

My workaround for this irritating glitch on my iPad Air and iPhone 5s: Instead of clicking Update and entering my Apple ID and password when requested in the App Store, I enter my ID and password and turn off the iPad or iPhone. When I turn it on again after a minute, I return to the App Store and click Update or Update All. So far it's worked every time.

I am also having app hang problem. you can synch with iTunes to get the apps updated but the apps still hang and the App Store on device still shows they are pending update even though iTunes updated them and they can be opened - some just hang on open.

To fix your missing iCloud files in numbers. I had the same problem - think selecting the "use new iCloud" in setup causes this. I fixed this by logging into iCloud.com and selecting iCloud Drive and the numbers directory. You will see all your files and then your device numbers will see them too.

I just successfully updated another app by keeping auto update off and as suggested above, signing in first before going to the update page and clicking on update. I haven't had to turn my iPad off though and then on again to make it work. Just keeping auto update off and signing in first seems to be working for me so far. Why either of these things should make any difference at all, when they never made any difference before, I guess is just one of life's little mysteries. Hopefully Apple will solve it soon. Because while I've been lucky, it looks like other people have had way more problems and haven't found any solution that works for them.

Are you referring to the update they just released on Thursday evening, IOS 8.0.2? I see it in my settings on both my phone and my iPad, but I've been afraid to download it and update because of what I read about the disaster they had with 8.0.1. This new one is supposed to have fixed all of the problems with that first update, but I wanted to wait and see how it worked for others before I download it, since both my phone and iPad have been working more or less okay with just 8.0.
