Why can't I download or update apps on iPad running iOS 8

Updated my iPad Air to iOS 8. Apps requiring updates and any new app downloads I tried on my iPad Air have been sitting in wait status for hours. I did the following to try to correct the problem but with no success...

- Turned off and restarted the ipad

- reset the iPad without losing previous data

- signed out of iTunes account and signed back in.

My cellular and wifi router are working fine. My iPhone 5 update and iPad mini updates to ios8 worked fine and new apps and any updates are downloading without any problems. I have auto download turned in for apps so when I initiate an app download on my iPad Air, it downloads fine onto my iPad mini even though it is "hung up" on my iPad Air.

Is there anything else I should try before taking the radical step of wiping clean my iPad Air?

Also tried all these suggestions, including restoring my iPad2 (iOS 8.0.2) & nothing worked. This was complicated by the fact that, in order to restore the device, I needed to turn off "find my iPad" and was unable to do so due to errors with iCloud connectivity. I reset the ipad and this solved the iCloud issues but not the app store problems. It is so frustrating that apple system support page still lists everything working just fine in spite of these obvious problems. The least they could do is acknowledge that a problem exists, rather than maintain "no problems reported". grrrrrrrr

It's odd, because the same apps that won't update on ipad air will update on my iphone 5s. Downloading new apps also doesn't work on the ipad air but does on the iphone 5s. not a storage issue. tried many of the solutions people here suggested and they don't fix the issue. have to assume a fix will come in another update from apple. any guess how long that will take. presumably they know about it, and I have to think it can't be that hard to patch.

It is so frustrating to have a problem reported by hundreds of users for more than 5 days now, and not have a single answer.... Maybe it was a bad idea getting the engineers to give an hand at retails stores and would be better to have them fix this all mess... Guess no iPacemaker for me anytime soon...

Already tried every single thing listed here, including 8.0.2 and continue not being able to use a single Apple-related application (appstore, icloud, OTA,...nothing)

Same issue here too. All was fine after IOS 8 update till September 23rd. Noticed my Zinio app was frozen. Deleted it and then discovered cannot update or download Apps. Done everything except a full restore as I have a 128gb iPad and have a lot of docs on it. also I cannot download software updates. Wanted to try 8.02 ( did not do 8.01 luckily) but cannot do that either as as the wheel keeps spinning. Other than updating Apps and not getting software updates, the device appears to be working normally. Come on Apple. We need a quick fix. Clearly something happened with Apps on Sept 23. It was not the original ios 8 update.
