Why can't I download or update apps on iPad running iOS 8

Updated my iPad Air to iOS 8. Apps requiring updates and any new app downloads I tried on my iPad Air have been sitting in wait status for hours. I did the following to try to correct the problem but with no success...

- Turned off and restarted the ipad

- reset the iPad without losing previous data

- signed out of iTunes account and signed back in.

My cellular and wifi router are working fine. My iPhone 5 update and iPad mini updates to ios8 worked fine and new apps and any updates are downloading without any problems. I have auto download turned in for apps so when I initiate an app download on my iPad Air, it downloads fine onto my iPad mini even though it is "hung up" on my iPad Air.

Is there anything else I should try before taking the radical step of wiping clean my iPad Air?

After doing yet another reset (holding power button and the home button until Apple logo appears), mine suddenly started working. Don't know how it was resolved, but happy my phone is back to normal. For me this was definitely caused by the upgrade from ios7 to ios8. Updating to 8.0.2 at first did not resolve the problem, but perhaps it eventually helped.

It's not just iPad Air. I'm having this problem on my new iPhone 6. Perhaps there's a different issue for me?

My story:

My new iPhone 6 (regular size) worked fine when I bought it. I've been using both LTE and WiFi.

I had my home WiFi upgraded with a new router by Comcast. Internet browsing and everything works fine on it.

I hit update all a day later on my iPhone 6 and saw that my apps were either updating slowly or not updating at all.

I stopped the updates and went through all the advice in this and other threads (even changing DNS settings)

Now, no apps are able to update or download. There don't seem to be any pending downloads.

No dice. I'm hoping the new router is just a coincidence, since I can't update or download apps over LTE as well.

I've had this problem too for several days and I think I solved it. It's related to credentials. I couldn't download content from my iPad running iOS 8 but I seemingly could from other devices which shared the same Apple ID; however, I noticed that on one of my devices I hadn't actually purchased a new app since the problem started and when I did it asked me to verify credentials (e.g., password and credit card security code). Once I typed those in on the other device, my 'broken' iPad immediately started downloading app updates, magazines, etc and I was able to purchase apps, etc. Seems to be working well now.
