After updating my iPad mini to iOS 8 I found I couldn't hear any sounds. It is not muted, all sounds are up, and even tried with headphones. Can't hear music, games, keyboard clicks, nothing. I also updated my iPhone5 and the sound is fine there. Anyone else have this problem or know a solution?
And yes I checked the physical volume/mute buttons on the side as well as in the settings/sound menu.

Go to Setting->General
- Change from rotation lock to sound off.
- Wiggle the slider: sound will return
- Now you can set the slider back to rotation lock again

Lost sound after update, and no amount of turning mute on/of by all methods, or total re-setting would restore it. Remembered that I had recently connected the I-pad to my Hi Fi via a Blue Tooth connector, and, that while the Hi Fi was playing from thePad, the Pad was silent. Turned off Blue Tooth on the Pad and sound to Pad restored!
Hope this helps anyone in the same boat.

I Tried everything listed nothing worked. Reset and all. I then realized my iPad was connected via Bluetooth to my tv speaker Which was using the optical input and not Bluetooth. I turned Bluetooth off and it started working fine again.

I Know this is an old post but I am very frustrated. About two months ago I upgraded to iOS 8.2 now I have no sound on my iPad mini and videos won't show. I tried some of these options but no change. Please help!

Drag the bar up from the bottom of the screen and there is a bell icon if it's red it's on mute mode turn it off 😉
