I have a work iPhone 4s which i updated to iOS 8 at work and this work iPhone 4s connects fine to my home wifi network. i am using an iMac at home as our wifi router. The iMac is connected my cable modem through ethernet cable. Have tried powering off the devices, reset network on iPhone and iPad, still keeps saying "password incorrect". HELP!!

I have been annoyed by this same issue on my 5s and now ran into it again on my new 6s. BUT I was finally able to get my iPhone to connect to the Wi-Fi using a combination of all the suggestions above. I'm not sure if this will work for everyone but these are the steps that I took to successfully connect. I will also say that when I tried each suggestion individually, none of them worked.

The process that worked for me... FINALLY

  1. Reset iPhone 'Network Settings' (unfortunately you'll lose your other saved network info)
    • Settings > General > Reset > 'Reset Network Settings'
    • My phone automatically restarted at this point
  2. Turn off Wifi Location Services
    • Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > 'Wi-Fi Networking' (turn off)
    • Restart phone
  3. Restart Router
  4. Manually connect to Wi-Fi. – My phone still gave me the incorrect password message when I tried to select my SSID from the list, but it worked when I manually entered the Network info.
    • Settings > Wi-Fi > Other
    • Enter your networks SSID
    • Select / Enter security info
    • Click 'Join'
    • Pray / Cross your fingers / etc.

I know this is basically just a regurgitation of everyone else's suggestions but when I went through them in that order, my phone now connects to my Wi-Fi after about 6 months of annoyance. I hope this helps anyone else that is in the same situation because this is was SUPER FRUSTRATING.

THIS WORKED FOR ME!! thank you karlajnr

2: Disable a Wi-Fi System Service Setting

If resetting network settings did nothing for you, you may want to experiment with toggling off a wi-fi system setting. MacRumors reports that some users have had a positive impact by disabling this setting, though it’s not entirely clear what exactly this specific setting controls (it is possible it’s a wi-fi based geolocation service, hence why it’s in Location Services settings).

Head to the Settings app, go to “Privacy” and then to “Location Services”, where at the bottom you will find “System Services”, then flip the switch to disable Wi-Fi Networking. This does NOT turn off wireless networking in iOS.

Hey there, I nearly pulled out my hair trying to reset router, reset network settings, changing router setting like a hundred times, called internet provider, called dlink, Visited Apple store 2 times(iPhone was able to connect to the wifi in store and they said no problem with the phone and sent me away). Funny. my new iPhone 6s and ipad wasn't connecting(incorrect password) to DLINK 605L N300 router however my old ipad and iPhone 4s was connected, probably because I hadn't updated the latest IOS. With my 6s, it connected for a couple of hours when I chose "no security" option in router setting but the next day it didn't.

After a month of trying, I went and got myself a new Digisol router today and HOLLA iPhone got connected. Hope yours will connect too. Good Luck!

Apple messed up badly. My iPad 3 won't connect to ANY wi-fi after I upgrade to iOS 9.2 (showed the infamous "Password Incorrect" message). Decided to downgrade to 9.1, and it asked me to turn off Find My iPad. To turn it off, you need to connect to the internet to be able to enter your icloud password for verification. Is this some kind of joke? I got a bloody nice paperweight! Hurray!

P/S: I've tried all of the options that are available. No positive result. My iPhone 5S did not have this problem.

Changing my WiFi channel on the router to something other than what it was on (in my case '1' and often '11') fixed it.

Thanks for posting. That hadn't occurred to me as something to try. That probably means that the issue was interference from nearby networks. Many older routers default to channels 1, 6, or 11. Some routers will detect interference and switch channels automatically.
