The iMac is connected my cable modem through ethernet cable. Have tried powering off the devices, reset network on iPhone and iPad, still keeps saying "password incorrect". HELP!!

I spoke to someone at the Apple Store and I have two iPad's that lose wifi at the same time, indicating a problem with the router rather than the iPad. He suggested a factory reset of the Time Warner Cable router, though he said they don't like that. Instead of a factory reset, I logged into our router's IP 'address and restarted the router via my computer. So far, no further problems, but we will see if it holds up.

Like many here, I had the problem with the password for the router (mine was AT&T) not working. Here's what worked for me. Nothing else I found online did.

I went into the router via 192.168.1.254 and in the wireless part I noted that WPS was turned OFF. I turned it ON and it worked! Just for kicks I turned it back to OFF again, and darned if it the Iphone 6 didn't come up to enter the password again! I was on another thread 8 pages long and tried everything there, with no luck. This worked for me.

Thanks,

WOw you guy are all very tolerant. There are hundreds of similar posts of problems like this and Apple can't get their act together. my iPhone 6 is a dead loss. I am posting this on my iPad, the iPhone was fine yesterday but will not connect today. Obviously not a router problem so I give up. I'm gonna put all this Apple crap on eBay and never buy Apple crap again. They are totally useless.

APple had a good product once but not now. They have lost it altogether. Every ios update fails to rectify previous problems and introduces new ones. Expensive paperweights. It really is a shame to see a good company like that go down the tube this way. I could never recommend Apple products again. I have had numerous Apple products in the past and currently have 2 iPhones (5&6) an iPad and Macbook Pro. What am I to do with them?

In fact I changed the modem settings to a new WIFI name and password, no Good. Changed the WIFI name and password back to the original; still no good. And by the way now even my iPad gets the message 'Incorrect Password'. All I can do is disable WIFI security encryption. All devices connect okay now without an encryption password. So obviously Apple have stuffed up bigtime and for some reason are not competent enough to update the iOS to enable devices to send a WPA/WPA2 password to a modem. Wow. Not much good guys. I don't like having no security on my WIFI Modem. Can I send a bill to Apple for any damages I incur as a result of being unprotected?

Um; okay. I changed my Modem security settings from "WPA-PSK Encryption" to "Use WEP Encryption" then configured the modem name and password back to original; the devices seem to all connect okay now; at least for the time being. It really still does not explain why two of my 3 apple devices continued connecting to the modem no worries even with WPA enabled; all had the most recent iOS updates applied.

All... I've read post after post on this thread. All the solutions that have to do with your own router, that you can control and change, are fine UNLESS you happen to be traveling around the world like my daughter is right now and can't connect to ANY wifi routers in their AirBnB apartments, hotels, cafe's, airports and the like. They CANNOT control, change or manipulate these routers in any way. Does anyone have any solution that is solely manipulatable on the iPhone itself??

I Was originally going to stay away from this discussion because I've proven a few times now that resetting the router completely to default and updating to the latest router firmware fixes the issue. The problem was with a Broadcom driver change, please keep in mind that wireless N originally was still in beta and not finalized when it was rolled out by manufacturers.

but for your daughter traveling one thing does come to mind. Over seas and in other countries they have access to 4 or more channels that we don't use in the U.S. That the FCC has banned for wifi use. The U.S. Routers usually ship using channel 6, but some over seas use channel 14 that is not allowed in the U.S.

since she is traveling it is possible that the routers are using a channel not allowed in the U.S. In this case she can either call apple or try changing her region on the phone from US to UK or maybe the country she is visiting. But I think the UK uses all the channels even the ones we are not allowed to.

in settings, general, language & region, change it from US to UK or the country she is currently in.

If she is in Europe then UK will cover and allow most.

She can leave the language on English, but I think by changing this region then restarting the phone this will allow her wifi to access these additional channels. Their is a small chance I may be wrong and that's why I suggested calling apple. But I'm 99% sure this is now to change it and get those wifi channels.

Or dropping by the local Apple Store if there is one.

I hope this helped. Good luck.

Hi guys,

I tried all tips from this thread and I still have "wrong password error" after trying to connect to my home wifi on my iPad 2 (8.3). And now what worked for me:

I have MSI wifi router, in wifi configuration there is setting for region, since I´m from Slovakia I have there Slovak Republic, so I tried to change this to United States aaand it worked 🙂, now I don´t have error with wrong password, and I´m succesfully connected to my wifi. Try this !

THIS! All suggestions fine if you are your own network administrator. But if you simply need to join a WIFI network in public, this is a hopeless disaster. You cannot join the network, you cannot enter a password, you cannot forget the network and you are absolutely screwed. Perhaps this is Apple's plan to force us all to use cellular data for everything. Or perhaps more likely this is typical sloppy, careless software programming from a company who practically wrote the book.
