Time Machine won't let me install OS X Maverick
I am trying to install OS X Mavericks. I do not use Time Machine but it says I cannot install on the HD. Any solutions?

I think this will solve your problem: OS X: Cannot install on a volume used by Time Machine for backups
Sorry to sound dumb but I can't find the Backups.backupdb file. I have tried looking in a all my files and doing a search.
In Finder, menubar click the menu Go and select 'Go to folder...' In the window that appears simply type /
It says folder can't be found
That would be surprising, since that is the root level of your startup disk... (Be careful to only type the slash symbol; no space after that.)
When you open a new Finder window, can you select your startup disk?
Yes
Let me guess: no "Backups.backupdb" folder there?
I see it there! It is updating as I type this...thank you so much for your help!
