Can't get music transferred to iPhone 6

iTunes will not copy my music library to my iPhone 6. I have plenty of space on the phone for the entire library and I have "Sync Music" and "Entire Music library" checked in iTunes, but when I sync it never actually copies the music over. It did not load the music on the phone when I first set it up as a restore from my old iPhone backup.

I have restarted both the phone and my iMac and tried toggling the setting for syncing only checked music in iTunes. Nothing works.

Before sync, the Summary tab for my phone in iTunes shows that there will be 17GB remaining after the music sync, but as it goes through the sync, it skips over the music transfer step, then spends a long time waiting on the last step (something about waiting for changes to take place... don't remember exactly what iTunes says). Once the sync is finished it shows that 42 GB are still free on the phone and the blue bar for music is gone, and nothing has been transferred to the phone.

I have tried syncing only playlists with smaller numbers of files and get the same result.

I have never been shown any kind of error message.

I have the phone connected to the iMac using the cable that came with the phone.

I am using the most up to date version of Mavericks and iTunes on a 2009 iMac and I have a 64GB iPhone6.

I have created a playlist for inputting new songs to the phone; then:

- Highlight/select all songs in the list

- Right-click on the selection

- Move the mouse cursor to highlight "Add to Playlist"

- Click on "your iphone's name" (in my case, "To Allure's iPhone")

Check your phone after inputting the music to it. You will see that there is no actual new playlist adding to it, i.e. new songs but not new playlist are added to it.

This reply only deals with songs but not playlists...

Hope this helps!

Right, so I managed to copy my stuff after fiddling for a bit... Imported the music into library from ext hdd, then in the phone settings while phone was plugged in, there was an option to manually manage music (Summary > Options > Manually manage music and videos)... Checked that box as it was unchecked by default, then highlighted all the music in my library, copied, went to where I needed to paste in phone (at this point I'd got to the point where I didn't care how neatly my music library was, and just wanted the **** thing to work!), ctrl+v (for some reason right click paste doesn't appear to work)

This was the only way I found, ***** that you can't drag and drop from your phone anymore, or from music library to phone, but at least you can still copy to the phone.

Also ***** big b**** that Apple has to make it a guessing game for something that should other wise be easier than waking up every morning (wake up at 4am every morning, so yea, it's tough! lol)

Hope this fixes it for you all as well!

Here's what worked for me!

Brief overview: 64GB iPhone 6, Windows 10, Lastest software versions on everything, Apple Music User (This is key)

I'm going to try and make this as short and sweet as possible...

Originally, I could not add audio files in my iTunes library to my iPhone 6. When I would hit sync after connecting my phone via the provided cable, iTunes seemed to skip over a few steps (The music step most importantly). What I ended up finding was the following...

User uploaded file

So, what I ended up doing to get the music to transfer was:

(On my physical iPhone)

  1. Enter Settings
  2. Enter Music
  3. Turn off iCloud Music Library

*Now I was able to add the audio files from iTunes onto my phone via the USB cable.*

Now to get my Apple Music back on the phone:

(On my physical iPhone)

  1. Enter Settings
  2. Enter Music
  3. Turn on iCloud Music Library
  4. Select "Merge" (This will allow you to keep your iTunes music and your apple music)

Anyways, this is what worked for me and I hope it may help someone else. This was extremely frustrating for quite some time.

Best Regards
