USB Music not playing in car after IOS8

After update to iOS 8 my iPhone 5s I am unable to play any online music or audio files via USB in my car. Before upgrade I was able to listen to any audio which I play online using Safari. Even if I play a YouTube video still I could hear the audio on car speakers if my USB is connected. But not anymore after the IOS upgrade.

note: there is no music stored on my phone, even i have deleted the U2 album as well.

will be thankful if someone can share his experience or solution to get my online music listening in car using USB.

OMG. TODAY I GOT A FIX!!! I have lived with this issue for MONTHS and spent hours researching. I have a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport that would stick on "Confirming the media" whenever my iPhone 6 was connected to USB. Once again I emailed Mitsubishi AND THIS TIME THEY HAD A FIX! Here it is:

Go to settings menu on iPhone. Choose music. TURN OFF "SHOW ALL MUSIC." I rebooted iPhone (probably not necessary but I did it anyway). Plugged iPhone into USB on car. IT WORKS! I can't really believe this easy fix and can't believe I didn't try it during my hours of troubleshooting. This may only help Mitsubishi owners, but give it a try!

Well in Music Settings on the iPhone 6 I just TURNED OFF "SHOW ALL MUSIC, GROUP ALBUM BY ARTIST AND LYRICS AND PODCAST INFO." Tried this again in the 14 Stingray. Music would still cut out and car screen would say no media connected then a moment latter come back.

Really didn't think it would be the cord as I had tried before with my 6 inch aftermarket and it worked before iOS 8.1.x I had used it when when went to iOS 8.1.x and it didn't work, tried the original apple lightning cord and it also did not work.

After turning the above music settings off the aftermarket 6 inch lightning connecter still gave issues. Tried the factory apple lightning connecter and it seems to work fine.

So in my 14 Stingray I must no have settings above off and original factory apple connector. On the 15 Harley it will now work with the settings off also and with the 6" connector.

Tried Jean Jones 2's solution (turn of Show All Music) with my '09 Mercedes. No dice.

Already have the factory Apple 6-inch adapter, so next experiment is to try FLSTFI (nice bike! I had an anniversary edition Sportster for a few years myself - not the Hugger - the mean machine 🙂 ) Dave's additional settings off. Will let you know.

This listening to broadcast music is for the birds!!

So, when i got my Nissan Murano '12 i was really bummed because i had an Galaxy Note 3 and couldnt sync it to the AUX USB. I researched and found an app for my Galaxy Note 3, and i could listen to music in my suv, but it was very low volume. I finally upgraded to an Iphone so i could play music in my suv. Well, come to find out i couldnt and i started googling again. I came across this forum and read everyone's input. IPHONE 6 WORKS NOW!!!!!!

I did turn off to show all music and I also downloaded a free song from Itunes. So This is how it works!!!

1. Download a free song.

2. Play the song.

3. Connect to AUX USB

5. Turn on Pandora/ Spotify/Youtube.

Yesterday, was a very happy day for me! Thanks for everyone's input and time in leaving a comment on this forum!

Possible Solution:

1. Go to Settings > General

2. Go to Restrictions

3. Enter Passcode (possibly x2)

4. Enable Restrictions

5 Disallow CarPlay

6. Reset Network Settings (Not 100% sure if this step is needed)

7. Have at least 1 song in Apple Music App

8. Have Iphone at Home Screen

9. Connect Apple Original Cable

10. That 1 Song should start playing

11. Open Prefered Streaming App and hit Play

Carplay negatively affects USB connection with Non-Carplay USB Audio Receivers.

I have the Iphone 6 with 8.3 iOS connected to Pioneer avh-41000dvd car stereo and the above solution fixed USB audio issues, including Error code 22-65.

If you are having issues upon reconnect, disconnect and bring Iphone to home screen and reconnect.

I don't want to get over excited, because we have had false alarms in the past, but this seemed to fix it for both my wifes phone and my phone on our 2014 Yukon!!! Thank you so much, I never went into restrictions because they were disabled, but enabling restrictions and turning off the carplay seemed to immediately work!! I will repost if it turns out to be a false positive.

I continue to struggle w/ USB audio since the iOS8 update last fall. I've posted earlier about my efforts to correct it.

Today I was able to test an iPhone 4S in the same car in which I was able to successfully use my iPhone 5C prior to iOS8. The iPhone 4S is running iOS 8.3. It works PERFECTLY.

I have a feeling this ongoing issue with iOS8 and USB audio has something to do w/ Lightning cables. Not sure if it's the digital only audio out of the Lightning cable or what - I'm no engineer or anywhere close to it. I just know that a 30-pin connected iPhone running iOS 8 works. Every Lighting connected iPhone running iOS 8 of any flavor I've tried does not work. I've tried 5Cs, 5Ss, 5s, and 6s. All exhibit the same issue - I can browse the phone via the car interface. But as soon as I select a song to play, nothing.

Does anyone else have a chance to test older phones running iOS 8?

My 2011 Sierra connects immediately and starts playing. I actually don't like it doing that,I would prefer to select the device and then start playing it on the song or station I'd prefer. I'm getting annoyed at the first song in alphabetical order.

My major complaint is that I cannot get an iTunes Radio station to stay paused when I select it. It constantly unpauses aafter a few seconds, very annoying to have the music keep coming on when you don't want it to. Unplug it from USB and it pauses just fine, looks like I'm buying a Pioneer deck with touch screen to replace the stock radio. Hopefully wireless CarPlay is supported on them and it works.

Finally!! I was having the same issue with no music through USB when I got the iPhone 6 -- here is what fixed it: I just had to add music to the Music app! The problem was probably created because when I updated my phone from iCloud no music was installed. Since I only use Spotify I didn't care. I noticed my Sony XPLOD receiver would switch to "USB NO DEV" after showing "iPOD" for a brief moment. Once I added a song to the Music app -- which my receiver probably thinks is an iPod -- I could play music from Spotify.
