iPhone 6 Plus and Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader - Missed Opportunity?

Apple definitely missed an opportunity to tighten up the DSLR/GoPro photography/video workflow with the iPhone 6 Plus. Currently the only way to transfer images from a DSLR or GoPro camera is through an extremely slow WiFi/Bluetooth transfer process. This is fine for someone is moving 1 or 2 images. But, for a batch of 50 to 100, this approach is way too time consuming. Android devices are way ahead of Apple in this regard and I'm fighting the urge to break-away from the iPhone once again, for something that is very solvable.

Enabling the the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader to work with the new iPhone 6 Plus solves this workflow issue.

Why not enable it?

This has become a common problem with Apple, and this is likely to turn me away from continuing as a long-time customer.

I purchased Apple Tv and later found out that it doesn't work unless you have wi-fi, I don't have wi-fi. I just wanted to watch my iTunes licensed movie on my TV

Today I purchased a Thunderbolt to SD Card reader from an Apple Store. I asked the rep before I purchased it if it worked on my iPhone 6 plus, he looked at the phone and said "Yep"

I brought it home and plugged it in and it says "Not a supported accessory."

Apple used to be known for making things easier. Lately, everything is extremely difficult.

There is no good reason that a customer should not be able to use Apple TV to watch their own movies, without Wi-Fi and Upload their own pictures to there iPhone 6, except greed on the part of Apple.

And finally, yes we can vent our frustration here in this forum.

The way I finally discovered that the Thunderbolt cord would not work is by reading the post of an unhappy customer.

Please don't patronize me for expressing my dissatisfaction here. Others need to know these things also before they wast time and money on Apple limitations.

Apple TV works via wi-fi just like Roku or Amazon Fire tv. It does not have on board storage for your movies. It is a streaming device. This is not unusual. This is simply the device that it is. You could connect your computer/iphone/ipod/ipad to your tv to watch movies stored on those devices, but Apple TV does not store anything.

You can put pics on your iPhone. You do this via your computer.

It is very important for people to do their research and understand what they want and what they are looking at, before they purchase.

Why admonish dwalbert for patronizing you when he yet to address a single comment in your direction?

Bit unfair of you, although it may explain why you bought a device that needs WiFi when you don't have WiFi in the first place.

Apple TV.

You should be able to use adhock networking with IOS 8.x and Apple TV 3. No router would be required.

Oh... You can get a router for $20 on sale.

It's a pain the apple adapter doesn't do what your want. Return it & get the cheaper third party device listed above.

That is such a ridiculous response I am not sure how to answer it.

Are you telling me that it is an Apple accepted policy to just tell a customer anything without actually knowing whether what they are saying is true? I think that you will find that Apple's policy forbids the giving of false information to a customer. Of course the customer believes the employees at the Apple store. That is why they are there, to answer truthfully the questions of the customer.

Take it back and get your money back and complain to the manager. Whining about it here is accomplishing nothing. What do you expect Apple to do? Make changes to their products because some low wage drone gave you an incorrect answer to a question? They are not on commission. They didn't "lie" to you. They misspoke, or misunderstood the question, or you misunderstood the answer.

No. I am telling you to actually READ the specifications yourself before purchasing something. I have no idea what took place in your conversation. Whether you misunderstood the salesperson or if they misunderstood you. It happens often and then people blame the salesperson because they did not bother checking themselves if it was what they required. You have the option to return it. You have the option to make a complaint to the store manager, but instead you choose to come screaming and kicking to user to user forums and think you will get a response from Apple.

As a follow up to this discussion:

I met with the manager of the Apple store where the sales associate told me that the Apple TV would allow me to view my iTunes movies on my iPhone 6 Plus, without asking me if I had wifi. The manager admitted that this has been a past problem with many associates--telling customers that it would work without asking then if they had wifi. Contrary to popular belief, as large number of Apple customers DO NOT have wifi fi.

He admitted that customers come into an Apple store and believe that the sales associates, who are referred to by the term: "Genius," do not always ask specific customers questions to better qualify them for the products they buy.

Apparently, this has happened many times before at many Apple stores, and as a result, the managers of Apple stores are re training their people so that this does not happen again.

The assumption by commentators here on this forum that people are well informed before they go into an Apple store is not true in a majority of cases. It is a fact of human n nature that people go to an Apple store with the belief that they can ask a "Genius" questions and their answers are informed and truthful.

The manager told me that what they are supposed to do make certain that a particular device will work for the customer, when asked "will this work," not just say "Oh yeah, no problem."

Finally, this forum is precisely for the purpose of discussing these kinds of problems. There are many people who do a Goggle search for their particular problem and find this forum has "answers"under the search results.

Any updates on this? I couldn't agree with you more that multi-functionality is a must for products and companies to succeed these days. I fear that this philosophy and oversight of empathy just to sell more iPads will prove to be a negative catalyst longterm. If I can buy less to accomplish more which helps me to thrive, I'll go that route every single time. Huge design misstep Apple.
