Oct 16, 2014 11:01 PM in response to griff wby iorganutan,I find, even now on iOS8.02 it keeps disappearing and you have to do the "switch it off and on again" routine described above to get it back. Hope they fix that with iOS8.1 on Monday!

Oct 22, 2014 1:09 PM in response to nevadan61by showbiz5,ANSWER:
You can quickly hide the little Quick Type drawer with a swipe gesture:
- Tap and hold on any word in the QuickType suggestion box, then drag down to close the QuickType drawer
That’s it, if you want to see QuickType again, just swipe back up from that drawer on the iOS keyboard to reveal the suggestions again.

Nov 16, 2014 4:42 AM in response to ajpolinskeby robincm,HI ajpolinske,
you are lucky. Turning predictive text on/off in Settings has no effect. There is no predictive text line in "messages", "mail", "Calendar" or "Safari" and the option when I touch & hold the keyboard "globe" is greyed out.
I DO get predictive text in "iLife" apps & "Notes" & strangely I am getting it while I write in this text box!!!!

Jul 14, 2015 6:44 AM in response to nevadan61by j. michael,You can cycle the PT feature back on using the method suggested above but I'm really put off by the way iOS loses its settings. The PT setting on my v8.4 (latest) says it's ON but it's not. This is ridiculous.

Aug 20, 2015 1:08 PM in response to robincmby DAVE929,I have exactly the same problem... Worse is that there is no information anywhere on Apple's sites or on the Internet whether or not there are restrictions to which applications can use predictive text and which ones cannot. E.g. why searching in Google the predictive text option is greyed out? Why there is no reference to such behaviour in the User Manual? Why is that in over a year there is no official response from Apple?
