IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

Alessio,

Well fingers crossed and after a month of mucking about setting, resetting and other time consuming things my i Pad seems to be working alright on 8.1. I have not got anything switched off and it's not hanging. Thanks for the help on here and hope you guys who are still having issues get them sorted. However we should not have to put up with our devices being "damaged" by a software upgrade! without the safety net of not being able to go back if we ( the customer, past, present and future) wish to. Oh and I know Apple employees come here because one told me so and had read this thread.

Hey Blackapples!

I'm really happy that you sorted out the issue of the newer software in one month.

Unfortunately I still find absurd to have to spend one month to make my device work.

I never said my device was damaged. I said it's unusable! It's frustrating no to be able to visualise pages correctly:

When i open a page with a map, the ipad just goes crazy, it start to speed up or down on the map, trying to pinch or stop it makes things worse.

Why am I forced to spend one month of my life trying to fix that?

Where is "think different" involved?

I wish someone could give a proper reply instead of keep eliminating posts.

Cheers

Hi All,

Well like a kid with a candy in front I could not resist the temptation to upgrade to 8.1, so I did it. I have been following the forum and also other sites and followed the recommendation given which are:

Install 8.1 as a new install and not an upgrade to your 7.1.2. (do it on recovery mode)

Download all your apps, movies, etc from the cloud and not from your backup.

Well I am happy to let everybody know it worked very well. I did it last night and left the ipad loading all apps and movies overnight. This morning I just made a hard reboot to clean any left overs just in case and my IPAD is working flawlessly.

No crashes, no lagginess, etc. I did disabled the predictive keyboard since I don't find it useful though.

Thanks

Best fix for IPAD 2 with IOS 8.

Make two Settings changes.

Change 1 ; go to Settings / General / Accessibility / Reduce Motion / Turn on

Change 2 ; go to Settings / General / Accessibility / Increase Contrast / Reduce Transparency / Turn on

Display will look a little different, but the IPAD will be useable and run much faster. Worked for me, let me know if it works for you.

My iPad 2 is also messed up. ISO 7 it was working so great and upgraded to 8 and the iPad has 5 second delay. This company does not care. Apple has changed. It's all about profit. It went big corporate. It has lost touch with its customers. I just bought an iPhone 6 plus and Apple tv. i think I'm done buying Apple products. This company died with its leader.

It's not only ipad2... I have ipad4 and the same problems with IOS8.1... Tried everything with my wifi... Other band, other type, disconnected all other users of my wifi (printer, repeater, airport, hue, etc..) Sometimes i have to wait so long after paused/sleep my ipad with safari, facebook or especially netflix that i reboot my ipad all over... So IPAD4 ALSO BIG DELAY PROBLEMS

@Petermac

"Cheap shot. Go buy another brand. Customers like you are never missed."

That's not really nice. People choose Apple for the line of products and quality. Quality is not only concerning the manufacture or design, it involves customer care and attention to satisfaction. Been using Apple stuff for ages, and i was happy to pay the extra cash to get that quality over other brands.

This thread has reached 163359 Views. I guess that's a sensible number for a problem the company is not willing to consider.

So don't you like customers with an actual working brain? 😉

Ah got it.
You're a colleague of Star Traveler. Good that more people form Apple is joining the conversation.

Still i fail to see any technical or logical insight in this: ""Cheap shot. Go buy another brand. Customers like you are never missed."

Now, let's be serious. Why don't you escalate the problem to someone which is actually in the position to provide a real answer?
Maybe i'm completely wrong, and the answer Apple is providing with his "no comment" stance is exactly this:

-There's no turning back to previous OS, if you migrate to IOS 8.0 onwards your tablet will be stuck to that version. Even if you are not satisfied with the outcomes. Get over it.

In the meantime i would not suggest to other users to upgrade to IOS 8.1 in any other way except what JSOT has done so far.
If those results can be replicated it would pay to put those instruction in evidence for the whole community. I will try to do the same ASAP, as my tablet is not more useful than the wooden cutting board i got in the kitchen.

Cheers

No, I am not a troll. The username is the registration of my favourite car. I have an iPad 2 and I am struggling to make it perform again like many others on this forum. But I am doing this as best I can without what is becoming vitriolic abuse from a biased small group. Perhaps you should look at your posts and remove some of the emotion and bias - in line with the forum conditions.

I find it ironic that those casting abuse feel they can lecture others on how to behave.

Oh, and I didn't realise my virginmoney link was copied onto this forum.

But for your information, last year I sailed around the UK fundraising for the RNLI. That's the Royal National Lifeboat Institution - it's a charity that protects life at sea. A cause very important in an island nation.

But you are mistaken, I don't want you to follow the link. Anyone else that wants to follow the blog is more than welcome

TTo use Apple products and technologies more effectively requires that they have to work in the first place, which at the moment, they clearly do not.

TThis thread is on the whole generated by Apple's customers with technical questions and yours is not, nor is it constructive or polite. You should apologise to Alessio.

in the meantime, my technical question still remains, how do you make an iPad mini work as it should whilst running 8.1 even after a clean restore and setup from new. Also, how do you cure the double letter every time the keyboard appears?

Try opening a new thread. There was no mini version of the iPad2 so either stay on topic or open a post relevant to YOUR issues.

Thanks
