Q: IOS8 and car Bluetooth no audio on iPhone 6+

Can't answer calls using car Bluetooth on ios8 with iPhone 6  but streaming music works fine. IOS 8 with iPhone 5s worked fine. Reset Bluetooth settings and still the same.  No audio at all for calls.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8

I had same issue with SYNC Touch.

This worked for me tonight to fix the issue.

Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings and then went back and did Reset Network Settings. All of my network and Bluetooth settings were reset and I walked to the truck, reconnected to SYNC with Bluetooth and just made several phone calls and all worked perfect. I power cycled the phone 2 times and also reset the phone name in ITunes and it still seems to be working fine in the truck. And the funny part is my Jawbone now also works perfect. The normal deleting Bluetooth devices did not work. It took this master reset to remove whatever settings were carried over in the phone from upgrade from 5 to 6 for me.

    hope it helps

Just tried this fix and at least can now play audio podcasts, however phone calls still present same issue as before. Can initate a call and then it drops after 2 rings. The next time I try to do call anyone else the phone tries to re-dial the last called person and locks the phone side of the Audi MMI.

I have to turn off bluetooth on the iPhone and then the Audi MMI unlocks.

    I hope apple Fixes this!

I did what ever everyone suggested, reset all setting, reset network setting, deleting from car memory.   It's works fine after you reset it and reconnect to the car with fresh new connection at first, but after I power the phone off and turn it back on, boom the problem comes back.  It's got to be a IOS 8 issue.  I did this 3 times and I am getting sick and tired of it so I am going to restore and set up as a new iPhone from Itune and wait and see how Apple is going to fix this issue.

I have 3 cars and the Bluetooth is having the same issue on all of them, work first then no more even with the suggest tricks.  I hate my iPhone 6 now.

I am going to open a tech support ticket with Apple about this today and post back results here!

    UPDATE:

So at the request of one of the Apple techs, I backed up my phone and then performed a FULL Factory reset... Erasing everything...

I then got the phone going via the on screen prompts and once initialized re-paired it with my car.

The phone now works!  I can make and receive calls with no issues.

My only problem is that now I need to re-install ALL of the apps and other info from scratch.

In any case it seems that this issue may be related to upgrading phone and restoring from backup.

I am going to troubleshoot further to see if I can get it working again from a backup.

I have the same problem, successful pairing in my Honda Accord 2014 with iPhone 6 iOS 8. I can call but it seems as though the call does not go through but it does, you just can't hear the person on the other end from the car so if you actually hold the phone to your ear, you can hear them. Resetting does not seem like a solution for all of the iPhone users out there. I did restore from iCloud as indicated above as well. So how do you open a tech support ticket? Or does Apple have this on their list to fix?

I am in contact with Apple support on this issue..

I was also directed to report my issue to the following website: www.apple.com/feedback

Was told that Apple engineers frequently review cases there as well.

So continuing my report from above:

Yesterday I tested my phone after a full reset ( cleared all data ) and the phone worked for the 5 test calls I made to and from my car.

I also restored from backup and then re-tested expecting it to fail from the get go, however it worked for another 5 test calls...

This morning I was able to make about 10 calls from car on way to work and then the problem re-surfaced!

Suddenly after 2 rings one of my calls "ended" on the display in car, however it showed being "connected" on phone.... Almost as if the phone disconnected from car bluetooth.

On the iPhone 6 I turned bluetooth off and then back on, and immediately upon re-connecting the car screen showed re-dialing the last number that I called and the car telephone portion locked up again.

Still do not know what exactly is cause, however it is interesting.

My wife's will be getting her new iPhone today so I will also test this out on her's before any restore from backup is done.

I have faith in Apple that they will resolve this issue soon. They are aware of the issue but there does not seem to be a simple work around aside from a full wipe of the phone.

In my case, that is NOT an option due to all the information I have on my phone.

Same issue here, thought I would chime in on what my symptoms are, iPhone 5 (IOS 8.02).  Before upgrading to IOS8 when my iPhone was paired (Bluetooth) to my Alpine stereo even when the stereo was off an incoming call powered it up and pushing the phone button answered the call.  When making a call I simply pressed dial on the iPhone and the stereo powered up and placed the call.  I should mention that I have had every iPhone since iPhone #1, upgraded to every IOS as soon as it was released and have NEVER had a problem.  After upgrading to IOS 8.0 and then IOS 8.02 the iPhone still connected to the stereo (paired).  When a call came in the iPhone would ring but stereo was dead.  When I answered the call on the iPhone I could talk to the caller, while on the call I checked and could see that the Bluetooth connection to the stereo was selected as default.  I manually turned on the stereo (which was on FM) and still nothing.  I changed the band on the stereo to BT Audio (which is where I would go to play music from the iPhone through the stereo) and the call worked fine.

Now I began looking further.  When my stereo was manually turned on and left at BT Audio I could place calls from the iPhone without problems and receive calls without a problem.  When I changed bands to FM, AM or CD I lost communication but the call was still active.  I switched back to BT Audio and the caller was still there.  HOWEVER, to answer an incoming call I had to click the 'answer' button on the iPhone.  If I tried to disconnect the call by pushing the 'phone' button on the stereo it would display 'Phone', if I pressed it again it would say 'dialing'.  I would have to go back to the iPhone and end the call.

I know this is not a solution but wanted to relay what I found.  From what I have read so far I am not willing to go through the whole wipe the phone out, reset everything and reload everything routine as it seems it is only a temporary fix.  It IS an IOS 8 issue.

One other observation!!  When I turn Bluetooth on (iPhone) I see my iPad and my laptop listed.  I have NEVER connected my iPhone via Bluetooth to my laptop or my iPad so why does it show up?  I know (even though I strongly object) that an iPhone or iPad constantly remains in 'discovery mode' for Bluetooth connections which to me creates a serious security flaw, BUT my laptop must be placed in discovery mode to connect SO how did my iPhone know it even existed (even calling it by name).  Again a serious issue.

Hope this may help someone or get Apple off their ***** to address the issue as it is very real!!!

I have also tried 8.02 with my Audi and I still have the issue with the disconnects and other bluetooth issues.

I will say that the issue with my Jawbone bluetooth headset was fixed.

I have also tried to fully wipe phone with 8.02 and the phone will work with a full factory wipe. Unfortunately for me I have a bunch of One Time login generators that I cannot restore unless I restore from backup so this solution is NOT an option for me.

Apple is aware of the issue and I am sure they will fix it in a future release.

This is driving me crazy. I have a 2012 Mazda and have never had issues with my iPhones. Like everyone else here, I love my Apple products, however I am now wishing I purchased the Samsung S5. I have tried all the resets, including a full factory reset on the iPhone 6. Nothing seems to work. The phone connects to the car as I can play my music, however the telephone operations does not work. I've made numerous calls to Apple here in Australia and even visited the Apple store to hear that all is OK and that it is a Mazda fault. I've called Mazda and they said they are having a large number of customers who purchased the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ having the same issue. It is obviously a fault with the iOS8 operation. I can't believe this is occuring. I am so disappointed with Apple and this product at the moment. I have raised a tech call with Apple so now it's a waiting game. I hope in the future Apple test their products before releasing them. FIX THIS.

I have a 2010 Audi A6 and couldn't use my iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.0.2 in my car's Bluetooth. Here is what helped me:

Delete Bluetooth devices on iPhone and iOS 8:

    Turn Bluetooth off

    Sign out of iCloud

    Turn iPhone off

    Turn iPhone on

    Sign in to iCloud

    Turn Bluetooth on

Now all previous devices are no longer showing up.

Then I reset my network settings.

    Under settings-general-reset-reset network settings.

You have to have your wifi password as this will delete all previous used wifi networks.

Just resetting the network settings did not help me so I h to delete old bluetooth devices on my iPhone also.

Delete previous Bluetooth devices from car.

Pair iPhone with Bluetooth in car.

This did the trick for me and I was able to make and receive several phone calls in my car today.

    I hope this helps.
