When I try to order the iPhone 6 I get the following error message. When I check my carrier website, I'm eligible for the upgrade but will have to wait 6 weeks for shipping. Why am I getting this error message only on the Apple website?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8

contact your carrier and make sure you are not a CROSS MARKET account. If you are, have them transfer your account to the market your phone number is native to.

for instance: I have a New York number but I open my new account in California, this is a cross market account and apple's ordering system has no clue how to deal with this. So I have my carrier rerun my credit check and transfer my new york number to a New York account.

If you have AT&T as your carrier it takes five minutes for the representative in a CORPORATE store to make these changes. After they finalize the changes, apple's website will let you order immediately after.

good luck.

I don't know if you have resolved this by now but I have been dealing with the same issue for several days. In my case the in store reps were not able to help me but I was able to resolve the issue over the phone. They created an entirely new account in the market that my line was in and transferred my line to it and cancelled my old account, after the change I was able to place an order through Apple. Several reps I talked to had no idea what I was talking about, I finally was lucky and landed on a rep who knew who to transfer me to, they also waived the line transfer fee (I was actually moving 3 lines so it would have been $18 X 3) I was fortunate enough to have an address I could use in the correct market so I could get everything set up and not confuse the rep. I will probably update my billing address which I think will be OK, it seems like the area code on the number you are upgrading just needs to match the market of the account, I don't think the billing address matters but I didn't want to take any chances when I had them setup the new account.

Ok problem solved. Went into official AT&T store, asked them to help me with the issue, explained that I needed a cross market transfer and long story short 3 hours later (they sent me home while they worked on it with tech support) they had it fixed via opening a new account and transferring all over. I had to re-register on the AT&T site but most all of the info was there I just needed to make a new login and such. I can now upgrade my phone via Apple no prob 🙂 Thank you for the help!

Hi Folks here's very simple solution to this problem. As just like you all I've spent 3 days to get this resolved and finally today after being on phone with an Apple representative (Charles) for 3:40 hours we got it resolved. We had to call At&T several times but none the less we got it resolved.

Here's what you'd do its Guaranteed to work.

Call At&T and explain them that because your account is considered a cross market account its not letting you upgrade your line at Apple Store or Apple.com so you need your number changed to match Area code that matches your Billing Zip code's area code. (My original number was from Illinois 630 area code and i had to change it to 402 Omaha area code to match my Zip code) Keep in mind you don't need to change your phone # permanently. its just for a brief period till apple.com or apple store let you place an order with your new phone # and than you can switch your number back to whatever it was.(Ones you change your number, you have 59 days to reclaim the same number, after that its available for anybody to grab it.) the whole process takes 20 to 30 minutes maximum.

At&T will charge you $36 to change your number so be nice and request to have this $36 fee waived.i got mine waived.

Please guys try this out and I'm sure it'll definitely work for you. Let me know if you have any question on this matter.

1.Call AT&T

2.Change Your number to match with your billing Zip code.

3.Place and order.

4.Switch your number back to what it was.

5. Let me know if this works for you guys or not.

Thank You all.
