iOS8 iPhone 6 plus - wifi woes

Hello,

I was wondering if any other iPhone 6 Plus owners on iOS 8 are having similar problems to me.

Sporadically the wifi drops and no wifi networks are found - doing a hard reset (holding the power button and home button together for 10 secs or so until the white apple screen comes up) seems to resolve this. I have done a full factory reset and restored a recent back up to no avail.

Cheers,

Rick.

I'm having the same problem on an iPhone 6. It disconnects from wi-fi, then can't find any wi-fi networks at all. Upon reboot, it automatically reconnects. It has become quite annoying since I generally turn cellular data off to conserve on my stupidly low data plan.

I also have an iPad mini retina with the same iOS 8.0.2, and it doesn't have these problems at all. Guess it's a phone thing since someone said it affects the 5S. Maybe it happens to the iPads with cellular antennas.

I hope they fix this soon. I've had a heck of a time, first issues porting my number to Verizon (not Apple's fault), then installed 8.0.1 and bricked my phone, then installed 8.0.2 and have this issue. I'd whine that I should have stayed with 8.0.0, but Healthkit was broken on that one! Come on, Apple.

If Apple would just tell us they know of the problems with wifi and AirPrint and are working on it , we would be happy and wait for the update. However, it is really annoying to have Apple " experts " on these discussion groups berate us and tell us we don't know what we are talking about. We should shut up and not complain. If we didn't complain, how would Apple know there are real world problems? Keep on complaining !

iOS 8.1 does NOT fix the 5GHz wifi connection on an iPhone 6 plus. Using new Time Capsule 802.11ac 3 TB router. Can connect okay when standing over the router, but drops anywhere else in the house. Getting an iPad 2 Air shortly. Will see how well (if at all) it can connect. Wife's 5C connects fine, three floors away from the router. iPad 3 connects fine, but I don't want it to slow down the network, but it will be replaced soon as mentioned. Considering an Airport Extreme to extend the network into my office where it definitely fails...can only connect to 2.4GHz network. Do I have to keep throwing money at something that is Apple's problem?

I have a iPhone 6 plus with the iOS 8.1 update. I also have a new Netgear router/modem. I have a iPhone 4s, 5s, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, HTC One (M7), Asus G75SX Laptop, PS3 and Sony Home Theatre System on the network. All these devices connect with no problems on the 2.4GHZ or 5GHZ. The iPhone 6 plus will not connect at all. Keeps on saying "incorrect password". I have restored the iPhone as new not from backup, reset the network settings, reset my router, changed the password to a simple 6 digit numerical password and still says the same thing on both frequencies. I have contacted Apple Technical support with no help. WHEN IS APPLE GOING TO RELEASE A FIX FOR THIS!

All,

I tried the escrge 1843 method (iPad Air 2 WiFi Connectivity Issues: RESOLVED) last night and it definitely made things a lot more stable but speed was affected. My usual Speedtest app gives me 50 Mbs Down but after setting the networks to 5ghz - A only and 2.4ghz to B/G the maximum I was able to achieve was 25 Down.

Even after sleep and wake for several hours two out of three devices (IPad Air 2 and 5S) remained connected but unfortunately my iPhone 6 Plus which was behaving better on the previous 5ghz setting lost connection this morning and I had to toggle Wi-Fi on/ off.

So in summary this method is the best temporary fix to date (especially for Linksys/Cisco routers) albeit not perfect for all IOS devices in the same household.

I'm definitely going to buy the new ASUS AC68 router which I think will solve the problem as I'm hearing good reports from numerous sources!

I got rid of my Linksys EA4500 and got the ASUS RT-AC68U - AC1900. I was due an upgrade to get on the AC standard anyway so wasn't overly annoyed!

Since testing it over the weekend it seems that my Wi-Fi issues have been resolved. I haven’t had a single drop or had to toggle the Wi-Fi switch on/off to get it the connection live again. Speeds have been consistent and this is across all my devices including :

iPhone 6 Plus

iPad Air 2

iPhone 5S

Macbook Pro Retina – 2012 non AC version

I hope this lasts but so far so good although I appreciate this is a deep routed iOS 8 problem that only occurs with certain router brands / chipsets.

Either way apple need to resolve this in the next update for the vast majority of us and this certainly shouldn’t force us to upgrade our existing equipment!

Good luck to all and I’ll post back if things start to get sour again!!

If updating your router is top of the list, seriously consider an Apple AirPort Extreme. I switched to an AirPort Extreme 3 years ago and am happiest with the Extreme over any of the top rated routers I've had in the past. if your router is NOT a dual channel 2.4 and 5 GHZ router or is several years old updating or replacing it is probably going to fix the problem.

if updating your router is not on the list, try setting your modem to a fixed channel, it may take a few channels to get the best one, (11 did it for me)

Yeah I have the same problem with 5s but only when my Wifi signal goes to 2 or 1 bar and I'm not in the same room as my router. Using control centre to toggle Wifi on and off temporarily fixes the problem. but not fully. Tried turning off the wifi on my airport express that is wired into my main broadband router thinking that it was a problem with multiple wifi signals, but nope no better. I have also tried changing my wifi settings on my broadband router still no luck. All other devices, their wifi connection is fine even if they get a weaker signal. I'm much of the opinion like others, that it is an iphone iOS 8 issue. By the way this has happened on all versions of iOS 8 and I am now on iOS 8.1. I hope Apple come up with a fix in the very near future as this ***** major balls.
