Why has iCloud stopped syncing calendar changes and reminders on my Mac with my iPhone?

It works fine with my iPad but abruptly stopped working with my iPhone. Changes to my iPhone will not sync with my iMac and vice versa. I have tried various fixes but haven't come up with a solution. My iPhone is a 4s. iMac was new last December. Both have the latest updates.

Are you syncing contacts and calendars with other accounts in addition to iCloud (Gmail, Yahoo, exchange, etc.)? Check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and >Default Calendar (in the Calendars section) and make sure it's set to your iCloud account.

I took your advice by the letter. Great results!!! First I did it on the iMac, and the iMac synced seamlessly with the Cloud and iPad afterward but not with the iPhone. Then I did it on the iPhone, and now the iPhone is syncing just fine. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help. The Apple Support Community is worth its weight in gold.

Thank you so much for taking the time to walk me through this.

Hey randers!

I was a bit confused about the iCloud Drive "not syncing" part because it kept talking about Documents & Data, and I thought by Data they meant everything else that is sync'd via iCloud. Of course, I am not about to try it to find out.... 😐

So, Contacts, Calendars, Notes, that sort of thing is not affected by iCloud Drive being turned on, correct? If so, that is a good thing to know, because I was confused.... 😢

Hi GB!

It's only referring to the "data" synced from iCloud-Drive enabled apps. The things you find in Settings>iCloud>Documents & Data on your device, but only for apps that are iCloud-Drive compatible (of which there aren't many right now). There's a new FAQ here: iCloud Drive FAQ. If you read it, it only talks about "storing all your documents in one place" and that once enabled, you "can't go back to using documents in the cloud". So I'm not even sure there's any "data" component to iCloud Drive beyond "documents". It doesn't hold your contacts, calendars, and other synced iCloud data.

Randers - I've got a similar problem with syncing iCloud calendar data that I'm sure could benefit from your knowledge and focus.

My problem is stated here:

Calendar Sync Problems on iOS 8 Family Sharing

I feel it would be a good idea to sign out of iCloud on the recalcitrant iPad and sign back in, as in the second part of your fix for jazzmanjohn.

Could you please have a look and see if you agree?

Thank you.

I'm pleased to report the fix outlined by Randers4 works. Here's an edited version of his instructions which I followed:

Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone/iPad and sign back in:

Go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out, choose Delete from My iPhone/iPad and provide your password when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud). Then reset your phone (hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release); when it restarts go back to Settings>iCloud and sign back in (your data will download back to your phone. Then try syncing to your Mac (and vice versa) again and see if it works properly now.

I'm now a happy bunny!
