iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?
Have been taking EXTREMELY good care of my 6+, but the corners already have visible scratches. Anyone else experiencing this?

Posting here, as this thread needs to keep going.
It's now being referenced in other forums creating buzz over the current screen issues people are having.
I'm echoing previous comments about the lack of screen durability in spite of very careful use. I, too, have a spotless 4s after years of use as a testament to my care of electronics. In fact, I've never had a single scratch appear on any touch device I've had (iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, etc.) and I've never used a screen protector in the past.
In this case, I've only had my iPhone 6 for 3 weeks and there is a very visible scratch across the app bar at the bottom of the screen. I, too, reacted by putting a screen protector on the phone (a bit late unfortunately), which has ruined the sensory experience of interacting with the original edgeless surface.
Whether it is a defect with the glass itself, a material coating issue, or manufacturing defect for us "lucky" few, the problem is in fact a real one.
First world problems of owning the newest and "best"...
I can confirm this issue as well. I have had every iPhone since 3 with heavy usage and haven't experienced anything like this. Hundreds of scratches all around the edges with nothing but putting in my pocket like every phone before. Very concerned this is only after 2 weeks of usage. I called apple and they are looking into it an told me they haven't heard anything about it. Seems like a defective screen on a few phones (insert random number here). I am hoping a company with 100 billion on the balance sheet does the right thing here. I will keep you posted what they say back.
Yep. Just noticed a sratch. This bites.
Added: I wonder if that fix glass scratch stuff would work?
I have an even worse issue. I set my phone down on its screen on a clean, flat table. I set one side on the table, and dropped it the rest of the way to the table, and heard a pretty loud "POP". I picked up the phone, and found 4 cracks. Two on the right side, and two on the upper and lower corners of the phone. I was livid! I just paid almost $1,000 for a phone that I can't even set down without it cracking? This is definitely an issue that needs to be fixed ASAP!
Never set an iPhone or any phone down on its screen. The camera area is made of sapphire glass to resist scratches, that's how its designed to be used. Better still get a case.
Great case sadly they dont ship to Sweden, Amazon Uk dont have these either, strange as i find the supplier in Amazon UK, will message them and ask if they can bring this to the UK store as well. I just have to be extra careful for now i guess 😟
Just got back from the Apple Store. They replaced my iPhone after asking me were I keep my iPhone (pocket) and what is in that area. Was pain free.
SO, I have a THEORY why this is happening.
My iPhone 6 Silver 64gb does not have any scratches upon using it normally. I think I picked a good one.
And those getting the SCRATCHES are the ones TREATED with CLEAR SOFT MATERIAL to HIDE the scratches below it.
I think the Quality dropped and they ended up with screens that had scratches on it.
(especially on the corners, which is hard to make it perfect without any scratches.)
And APPLE (or the company that makes the iPhone) had to do something to hide it.
And what you are doing is BRUSHING off the CLEAR COATING that MADE the iPhone look FLAWLESS.
You picked a BAD one, and get exchanged for a one that has actually flawless gorilla glass UNDER the coating.
great theory. My home button also has a strange click in the upper left hand corner, and i'm going to take it in for warranty soon and get the phone replaced and then buy a screen protector to wait out the release of the iPhone 6 life proof.
For those who don't have a somewhat faulty home button, try and take it in to see what they will do for you.
Best of luck all.
All iPhones have a clear coating on them. It's called the oleophobic coating. It's what makes your iPhone's screen smooth to the touch and not attract fingerprints as easily. The glass isn't what is scratching generally. Actually, the glass is extremely difficult to scratch as it has a hardness of about 9 on the moh scale. What's scratching is the coating as it has a hardness of around 6.
got my iphone 6+ about week ago and sorry guys but the screen is perfect. The screen is the same of my old iphone5 , too strong enough to avoid scratches.
So I don't know what is happen to your device but mine is fine!
No disconnected screen, no problems about scratches.
This iPhone is awesome

There were iPhone 6 and 6 Pluses at the Apple Store that has scratches already. Just because it's hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it isn't happening to others. Just because you don't have a defective iPhone doesn't mean no one else does.
How is oleophobic coating applied in a manufacturing environment? For example, does it have to be applied at a specific temperature or humidity? Does it need to dry or cure for some time before it can be shipped? Is it applied in layers using multiple different chemicals? If there are so many complaints about the oleophobic coating being scratched easily, then maybe some of the Apple production lines cut corners in order to get more phones out the door on launch day. I used to work in a manufacturing environment, and it is not uncommon to accelerate or skip a non-critical process step if meeting the customer deadline takes priority over the quality of the item being produced. It is a risk most companies are willing to accept in order to hit their revenue/shipment targets, and they just take back any defects that are found later on. I would be willing to bet that most of the phones produced in week 24 are of a higher quality than week 1, just because the time pressure associated with launch day is removed. Also, there are multiple production lines, so there may only be a few slave drivers trying to meet their quotas by cutting corners, especially if their pay is tied to the quantity of phones produced.
It's certainly possible the earliest made phones could be an issue, but then both my iPhone 6 had to be some of the earliest made as they both arrived on launch day and yet neither of them have any scratches. Maybe we are just lucky.
Consider there were 40,000 users whose phones were bricked by an iOS update that wasn't thoroughly checked, and it is not hard to imagine there are just as many phones out there with screens that are not of the highest quality.
