iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?

Have been taking EXTREMELY good care of my 6+, but the corners already have visible scratches. Anyone else experiencing this?

What's common sense would be to read the thread before replying buddy.

1> A LOT of people are confirming the iphone 6 screen scratches up much easier than previous models.

2> What's the point of having something that's beautifully designed to be seen and not wrapped in cotton wool if you can't, well see it. Yes a screen protector is transparent BUT it's another layer detracting from the aesthetics of the phone. Also the screen is curved which is causing people who do want to use a protector problems. I have had many phones and never once used a screen protector. Never once have I had issue with scratches like I did within 10 minutes of using the iphone 6. If you wish to spend a premium for a phones design (as you are with the iphone 6) and then spend more covering up that design (which you paid extra for) go for it. To me that seems counterintuitive.

I have had my iPhone 6 for about 2 weeks and have 2 large scratches on it. I have had the 4s and the 5 before this without any cases or screen protectors and haven't had a single scratch. I still have my 5 as proof and I will be going to the Apple Store tonight to talk to them about this issue.

I chatted with a customer service person online and she blatantly lied to me saying she never heard of this problem. I sent her a link to this thread and multiple other threads. She also told me to put a case and a screen protector on my phone. What is the point of making a nice looking phone if they want you to cover it up?

I will give an update after I talk to someone at the Genius Bar tonight.

I have had my 16gb iphone 6 since 9/26. I have noticed numerous minor hairline scratches and decided to look it up. Its noticeable when the phone is off (black screen) decided to look online and found this thread. I spoke with a friend who works at apple and he has confirmed this issue and said they are too replace them no questions asked. I have an otterbox case on it so the back and sides are fine. i do not have a screen protector, i had a 4s for nearly 3 years and never had any issues.

That said the phones are sold out everywhere and im way past my 14 days etc. So i decided to buy a screen protector to hold me over and when they get back in stock I may try to replace it...

Just wanted to add to this already extensive thread.

That is good to hear. Did this person indicate whether Apple knows the cause of the problem and if it is being addressed? I rely on my phone as a professional and can't afford to spend the time to buy one and transfer all of my stuff only for it to need replacement due to scratches. My concern is that if some of these phones are getting scratched within one or two days, they will be covered in them in a few months. My iPhone 4s is three years old and has zero scratches, with no screen protector.

Well, they're not sold out everywhere, and unfortunately they're giving out these bad phones as replacements!! I had to replace my Week 37 F1 (foxconn) built phone due to a bad mute button. The replacement I got (San Francisco store) turns out to be a week 38 F1 build -- and while its mute button is potentially suspect as well (currently working but a bit loose), this one has a much worse screen than my week 37 one! Now I put a wallet-style case cover on this phone, but the one and ONLY time I accidentally put the phone in my pocket with the cover folded back, the screen immediately got a few visible scratches. Argh!!

So I'm going to wait a little while longer to seek a replacement, particularly if Apple is going to make it easier to get a replacement without much hassle. But they HAVE to recall from their inventory all of these early-built defective phones. Certainly looks like Foxconn (F1) Weeks 38 and earlier would fit into that group.

IIf this is true than that is good, I have been taking great care of my phone and it has a scratch which is visible when you look for it, and you can see it on a white screen. It's small but it's there and annoying, shouldn't be happening after a few weeks.

i Will probably get a screen protector but I'm not sure whether to buy Applecare+ or not.

IM considering seeing a genius but I really don't think they would give me any replacement.

I Just want these scratches gone!

Disappointed with the iPhone 6 screen😠. Had iPhone 5 for years and no scratch (no screen protector), but iPhone 6 has scratches just after few days. I am very careful with my phone, but still!!!

Looks like apple has to call for a recall!!

I wouldn't hold your breath on that thought..........😉

Still no scratches on my iP6 which I've had since launch day.

my iphone 6 has some scratches and i was going to bring it into the store, i bought a screen protector

Now i hate screen protectors so i wasn't happy to almost feel like i have to buy one. but i have honestly been impressed with this one, it feels great and along with my otterbox symmetry case looks good. it also seems to have covered up the hairline scratches i have.

***** that we almost have to buy a screen protector but if it means no scratches then ok.

Ok, first I appreciate this thread. It's been very helpful.

Here is my time line. I got my iPhone 6 the first day via my carrier. In the first two weeks I notices 3 very fine scratches, not visible unless you really looked. Based on this thread I figured I wasn't the only one with this issue.

About 2 weeks ago I did an Apple Chat with someone named Chris. Very friendly (as much as you can be in a chat) but said he couldn't make a determination without seeing the phone and suggested I go to an Apple store.

Last night I finally got a chance to stop by the store. I met Steve, again very friendly, and he said he had no available appointment for the Genius Bar but when I told him what my issue was he said, "that is usually no problem. They will cover fine cracks and scratches, but someone will need to look it over to make sure what might have happened to the phone". He offered to make an appointment for me. I elected to go home and make one on line for tonight.

Tonight I went to the store and got set up at the Genius Bar. Another very friendly person, Ryan introduced himself. I briefly and I mean briefly by hardly saying scratch and screen and he said, "I can get you a new screen which will take about 45 minutes or a new phone which will take about 10 minutes". I chose the phone, even though I haven't backed up in a couple of weeks. His comment when I asked him which would be better and he said, "we just want you to be happy with your new iPhone".

So with multiple friendly Apple people willing to help, I have a new phone. No questions asked. No how did it happens or what did you dos. Just total and complete customer satisfaction.

That's my story. Hope it helps.

Apple what's wrong with your phones ? why can't you make a phone without problems?!!!

my black iphone 5 has body color flaking and WiFi problem.
my Space gray 5S has the same body color problem again.

and NOW my iphone 6 ... Bending Problem compare to other devices and Today after i clean my iphone6 Screen, i notice that there are a lot of scratches all over the screen !!! I really care about my phone !! how does it get this scratches ?!!!

During these years i had so many devices alongside my iphones like HTC Desire C,HTC Explorer,Xperia L,Xperia Tipo,LG G2 mini and ... and all of them without screen protector!!! i do not have any problem with them after even 4 or 5 months and i do not see any scratches on their screens !!! after 2 weeks using my 6 it's unacceptable !!! really really unacceptable!!! why did i waste my money for your rubbish product?!! because i always say to myself that may be the next generation would be better... but every time i bought your garbage it became worse than before.
I'm Sure my next phone Will Not be your product.

I thought I'd update you guys on my findings.

I've had more problems than most with a launch day iPhone 6 Space Grey 16gb.

First the screen scratching issues, but I also ended up with a slipped front camera which slowly moved out of it's place along with heavy wear marks around the rear camera bezel and the opposite corner where the phone touched my desk (never slid around, only ever gently placed). Since then I have had a Space Grey replacement which a loose touchID button, this was replaced a few days later but did exhibit slight scratches to the screen even in this short period of only even resting on a desk or being in my pocket.

Now I have my 3rd iPhone 6, this time in Silver (4 weeks of arguing with EE and Apple to finally get a colour change)

I have to say the Silver hasn't marked at all, it's even had a minor drop down the side of a car seat onto all of the mechanisms and down the side of my metal framed bed. Not a mark on the screen or the chassis! This is what I expected of my first iPhone 6, something as hard wearing as the other Apple products I've owned: 6 iPhones (3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S) 2 iPod Touches (3rd + 4th Gen) 3 iPod Nanos (2nd, 4th + 6th Gen) 2 iPads (1st + 4th Gen) 3 Macbooks (Macbook Pro Late 2006, Macbook Pro Retina Late 2012 + GF's Macbook Air Early 2013) all of which are either spotless or have a reasonable patina from the length of time they were used. It's something you don't expect to change having put a decent amount of money and trust into Apple products

Finally I'm happy! I do hope you guys having problems can get this sorted, this problem should not be accepted and we should not let Apple think they can get away with shoddy build quality.

I wish you all the best of luck!
