iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?

Have been taking EXTREMELY good care of my 6+, but the corners already have visible scratches. Anyone else experiencing this?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8

Have had to swap out 4 units because of this. APple Store is now telling me it's just me that they never hear of this from anyone else. Never dropped/banged/put my phone in pocket with anything else. Only thing that can be causing it is sitting in my jeans pocket with minimal pressure that goes along with that. No similar scratches on my iPhone 5 that I've had for 2 years. This is getting to be a hassle and I'm not sure what would prevent it. I don't drop my phone or ever have it in a pocket with anything else so why would I get a screen protector? It wouldn't prevent spontaneous stress hairline cracks which is what's happening to me over and over again.

I mentioned it. This was at the Flagship store in SF. They said they never heard of such a situation. Each time. They did do swaps out for me pretty quickly but this last time they made a point to tell me that I've already done a couple prior. Yes, I know. Just hoping to get a non-defective phone. I'm doing nothing to cause these. They are all no-impact hairline cracks appearing in the middle of the phone (or at least, away from edges) 3-7 days after I get it after doing nothing but being in my hand and pocket. Never any impact points or scratches or dents on any of the aluminum or anything else. There are really just 2 possibilities:

1.) There's a defect in the product and this phone isn't capable of resting in an empty pants or jeans pocket without getting easily scratched.

2.) I am mentally ill and taking a boxcutter and making these myself because I like going back to the apple store, waiting in line, and spending hours doing backups and restores.

That's it. And I'm willing to undergo a mental health evaluation 🙂

The problem is you are probably continuing to get phones from the same bad batch. I went to the SF main store a few weeks ago to replace my phone due to a bad mute button (though it also had some screen scratches already from just pants pocket). My original phone was week 37 from F1 (foxconn) plant. The replacement phone was also F1, week 38. And while the mute button is working "okay" (it's still a little loose), this screen is scratching up as well.

So I think your problem is you're probably still getting F1 early week replacement phones in SF, and seeing the same problem. Because of that, I am planning to wait a little longer before asking to replace my new phone... and probably not going to go to the SF store. Maybe one can ask to do the serial number look up at the store as well to reject anything that's F1 week 3x or earlier (assuming that location is one key source of the problem and has fixed the problem).

My turn🙂! It's been under a month since I've purchased a sim-free iPhone 6 and gotta say I'm hugely disappointed with the poor quality iPhone 6 is offering as it already looks far worse than my 4s/5s/5 looked in 1 year. Should have waited a bit longer for the complaints to come up before buying it.

Purchased back a brand new 5s 64bit (hard to find btw - as apple only have 16GB & 32GB available in store) and looking to get rid of the "egg", anyways booked an appointment to present the scratches to the geniuses 🙂 as the scratch-proof display was an important buying criteria (where competitors are even water resistant for less, letting alone scratching) and to understand what cover in particular I need to buy 🙂. Every one's suggesting iPhone 6 users to cover it if they don't want scratches, really?? I'm not buying a mobile for the cover/I get a cover if I want to.....and for THAT money, should have been covered already. I personally I very much dislike mobile covers, anyone else?

You have now to look more after your iPhone 6 than your own kids, that didn't happened with 5s or 5 or 4s..

This comment comes after just spending £500 on the new 5s and the £700 on the 6 that I'll have to get through the hassle to sell it, but wait, I'll have to replace the display first (one more £100) or drop £100 in resale, either way another 100's gone.

As an Apple fan quality dropping should raise a HUGE concern!

Thanks you, and I'll come back with the Genius feedback.

Good point. I'm surprised that they hadn't heard about this, and a little skeptical. This thread isn't the only place where the hairline scratches are being discussed. I wish we could verify which batches of phones are affected. The info you provided is helpful to me, thanks.

i chatted with a rep who was nice here is my convo:

As of right now there doesn’t seem to be anything in motion yet as far as replacements or repairs. However we definitely appreciate it being brought to our attention so that we can submit it for review.

TiffanyThat way they can get something done about it.

Me:great

Me:thats really all i wanted to see if this was a known issue and to submit my issue

Me:i dont have time to scheudle time to goto a store for a replacement

TiffanySure, and thank you so much for doing so!

Me:if/when i do

Me:is there a limit from when i purchased my iphone 6

Me:to get it serviced?

Me:thankfully i purchased a screen protector this week and it has actually hidden the scratches and now protects it but i do not like having the screen protector

TiffanyYour hardware warranty is good for one year from the date of purchase so that would be September 26 2015. However, if they determine this to be a manufacturing flaw they will put a program into place making sure that anyone affected is taken care of regardless of that time period.
