iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?

I went on chat as well today. All they could do is get me to a genius appointment. We'll see. I'm just shocked after 71 pages of discussion on this that they act

its not an issue. My display is scratched all around the edge of the display only. There isn't another scratch on it so you know it hasn't been dropped or put with anything else. Just with no case in my pocket. Nothing else has ever been in the same pocket. It's the curved display. It's takimg abuse since there is no metal rim around it. So sad. never expected this from a top of the line device. Why hasn't this got traction like bendgate? If it was brought to light you would have a firestorm.

I bought my new iPhone 6 three days ago and I've been extremely careful with it since then. However, today I realized it had some scratches on the screen. This is very disappointing for a product that cost me 850 euros.

Your device didn't get scratched all on its own. Something scratched it. This is why it's always recommended to have a protective case on your device.

And 'Bendgate' doesn't have any real traction, since it's been demonstrated by independent, biased testing that it take at least 90 pounds of pressure to bend an iPhone 6. That's more than normal every-day use. That's abuse.

Same thing here. Put your iPhone in a case to protect it.

Looks like it's been dropped.

The claim people are making here us that the screen is not as strong as it should be... In other words, defective. Each screen has a scratch resistance rating with it. It will vary, but there is a cutoff number associated with it where any screen that measures lower than that number us defective. In this case, it's analogous to a phone that bends at 20 pounds of pressure, a number that is lower than what is acceptable by Apple's standards.

In short, we are claiming that the screen'a scratch resistance is below Apple'a standards.

You'd see damage (warping) to the aluminum before you see hairline scratches on the screen if it were dropped. There is no damage to the aluminum (warping, physical damage). Remember, aluminum is brittle... It will break before it scratches, and break quicker than the screen will scratch if dropped.

yes it will if the screen doesn't have an "acceptable" quality.

This is not 2006 when the first iphone & ipod touch appeared.... At least for me the difference was pretty noticeable between ipod touch 4 and 5 (prone to scratches - no prone to scratches)...

If you use a poor quality screen protector. And if you throw your phone in your pocket or bag with hard objects. 😉

Screen protectors may not cover the edges of the screen... The iPhone's screen is curved.

Screen shouldn't scratch if it's covered. Screen protector should not scratch the screen either...
