iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?

Your sample is small... Will result in a large range where the actual population will be. This sample has gotten quite large, 250+ people in this thread with and without the problem. As more and more people enter this thread, we are seeing the number increase at 1-2 per week. No, this isn't a lot, this isn't a majority, but it's worth investigating rather than just brushing off.

Note, I'm not saying that 4/5 phones will be scratched. I'm claiming that the amount of phones, despite it being a non-majority, actually scratched is higher than what is typical with past iPhones (this isn't normal, or random). In other words, 200+ is a large number of people in a single thread with the issue. It's not like the 10 reported cases (small sample like yours) for bent iPhones.

Perhaps my sample of 20 phones is not significant. But that wasn't my point. In order to build a case that statistically there are a significant number of scratched phones out there, it would stand to reason at least one of the 20 phones (many of which are launch day phones) would be showing some signs of scratches. I think what people have been trying to say in the most recent threads is that the screen on iPhone 6 is inherently flawed. For it to be inherently flawed, it would have to include most, if not all phones. So, I'd say that knowing 20 people personally, all who carry their phones in differing manners, yet none of which have any scratches is statistically valid.

250 isn't a large enough sample? Actually, in this thread alone, there are 20 people without scratched phones (probably closer to 50 by now), add your 20, we're looking at 200 / 270 (approx). No one is saying it's inherently flawed... They are saying it's scratching more than normal. Whatever normal is.

What we're saying is that the ratio of phones getting scratched is larger than what is normal for iPhones. I agree it isn't a majority, but I also think it may be larger than what is normal for iPhones. For example, let's say that 1/1000 phones (random ratio, probably not true) shipped have a bad oleophobic coating (this is what we expect), what we're saying is that the current iPhone has a number that is larger than that. What I'm saying is that it may be significantly larger than that. I'm also indirectly saying that this sample (including your added phones) has a number that is significantly larger than that, so there may be something in this sample's phones that could be causing the issue (a defective coating for example, maybe something else).

I wish I had that actual number for what is normal (ratio), I could calculate the p-value then.

You must have plenty or time on your hands. I have 1 iPhone6 with no scratches. therefore 1Phone6's have 100% no scratch record. I have one iMac with a dead pixel. 100% fail here. 😉

Could be. Funny thing is everyone is pining for the days of iPhone 5. It was the only iPhone I never put a screen protector on and it got scratches. I never really let it bother me much as one had to look at different angles under differing lighting conditions to see the hairline scratches. When the screen was on, it was impossible to see the hairline scratches. Thus, while I started with a cased, but naked iPhone 6 screen, I have now put a Zagg Glass protector on my phone. No, it doesn't fit edge to edge. But it's actually pretty good, and it feels smoother to navigate than the iPhone 6 glass and it also shows less fingerprints than the iPhone 6 glass.

I'm just putting the numbers out there. But like I said, what you just showed was more or less nothing. Not 100% of iMacs have dead pixels, and not 100% of iPhones are scratch free... What I'm saying is not to dismiss the idea that these iPhones may actually have a defect in them, or at least not to say it's within the expected number.

Hm... That's an interesting observation... The screen protector does a better job resisting finger prints. Couldn't tell you the cause of that. But yes, that's all we're trying to say. The number could be larger than what is expected/normal, so there could be something going on here. We're not saying all iPhones will have the issue. We're not saying that a majority do. All we're saying is that it seems higher than normal.

I fail to see how reporting a problem is striving for attention. If anything its the higher ranking forum members who are doing that with their clever, condescending replies. Belittling people with genuine problems, people who have been loyal Apple customers for many years, people who have owned previous Iphones with no screen scratch issues does not help.

If you want to report a problem you need to do it by contacting Apple either through the contact link at the bottom of the page or by visiting an Apple store. No one here works for Apple and there are no "higher ranking members". Points are awarded from other users on a voluntary basis. The various levels have nothing to do with rank. On this site everyone is equal. Again, report your problems to Apple.

Thanks for the advice. As previously mentioned I have done just that, both through the feedback channel and also over the telephone. The lady I spoke to was genuinely interested, very helpful and asked to be pointed in the direction of this thread.

My phone scratched just after buying it in October so I had to cover it with a glass protector. I would have protected it right away butI thought the glass was going to be amazing......

Same issue here. I have had my 6+ since November and I just noticed a 2" scratch last week.
