iPhone 6 screen easily scratched?

Have been taking EXTREMELY good care of my 6+, but the corners already have visible scratches. Anyone else experiencing this?

Take impeccable care of my device. Noticed some fine micro scratches. Only kept in pocket with no keys etc. My iPhone 5 never had a screen protector and was cared in the same way and had NO scratches. Apple need to respond to this.

6S for only a few weeks and already there is a scratch. I've treated this thing like a precious fragile object, which it clearly is.

I chatted with apple support and they not only told me it wasn't covered and was to be expected but I have to buy a case. To top it all off they randomly cut off the chat! Disgusting level of service.

I shouldn't need to put a case on this object that should be designed for regular use. I would expect a replacement for this but I am told by apple I need to pay for a repair! Perhaps I will keep it in a locked padded case and use it solely by voice commands from now on....

How do I get Apple to take responsibility and replace this device?

After 2 years of heavy use and no screen cover, my iPhone 5 never had a scratch.

Less than a week into owning an iPhone 6, I have a good sized scratch on my screen. So disappointed. I only ever had a bumper on my old phone and would totally throw it in my purse with my other stuff with no issues. Now I guess I'll have to get a cover for the screen. Definitely seemed easier to scratch.

Yes absolutely!

I have a 4.7 iPhone 6 and after 6 days use the corners are showing a lot of very fine scratches.

It looks like someone has been at it with a fine grade sand paper.

Have been carefull with it, even keeping it in a soft case.

In comparison my 3 year old iPhone 4s has barely a scratch on it!

I don't know if it is some sort of production fault but I do know it's no where near as hard wearing as the old glass.

Very disappointed!

I am also facing the same problem. I've had my iPhone 6 Plus for only one week. It was delivered on Friday, September 19th. Last night, I noticed that the glass screen has scratches and scuffs. I have never needed to use a screen protector on any of my iPhones (3G, 4, 5, 5s) and only after one week of normal use, it already shows scratches? What is going on Apple? Is this a production fault on my phone? I can't seem to find anyone else on the internet who is having these problems.

Videos online show product testers rubbing their keys to the screen and show no scratches. I am really dissapointed, Apple. I hope that you can help remedy this problem.

Well I just got back from a "Genius" appointment.

Showed the chap the phone and explained the problem.

He says "oh dear, yeah cosmetic damage is not covered under the warranty".

I show him my 4s and five year old touch, which have very few scratches. I ask why my 6 is so susceptible to scratches.

He said, "I've had an iPhone 6 for a week too and mine doesn't have any scratches".

I pointed out that maybe his doesn't have the same production fault as mine.

"sorry, cosmetic damage is not covered by the warranty"

I lost my patience around then and left"

I hope anyone else who tries gets a more intelligent response.

It seems the official response is to blame the customer.

Im absolutely disgusted!

I have had my iPhone 6 from the first day of availability and thankfully have no scratches. However yesterday I put this beautiful form factor phone in an ugly Defender Case. It is kind of odd, sort of like covering a new car's carpet with floor matts and ultimately selling the car years latter only to have the next owner enjoy the original carpet. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus screens are indeed a beauty to behold and the phones look great in the Apple leather and silicone cases. However from this thread I hope most owners buy screen protectors or cases with an integrated screen protector.

He gave you a very intelligent response. Cosmetic damage has never been covered under Apple's warranty.

Why did you not put the iPhone into a case or use a screen protector?

Because my previous iPhone had gorilla glass and was resistance to scratching.

I never had the need for a screen protector.

The point being that the new screen is way more susceptible to scratching.

But thanks for your help!

And the iPhone 6 uses Gorilla Glass, too.

It could be using transparent aluminum for a screen. You'd still be wise to use a screen protector, even if it's just to keep dust off the thing.
