After IOS 8 update, bookmark bar won't go away

Hi nofixedadress. You hide the side bookmarks by tapping the upper bookmark icon, next to the address bar. It is annoying that it doesn't disappear automatically after selecting an item, but that's how it works. If that doesn't help, please describe your exact problem, what you're trying to do and how it fails. Please include your device model and iOS version.

Hello , unfortunately that doesn't work with an iPhone 7 , there is no upper bookmark icon you can tap on . The only way it disappears is to go in Settings-Display & Brightness- view and then choose zoomed instead of Standard . Now it's gone , but all your apps etc are now bigger and zoomed ... maybe there is another solution? Until now I only found this one .

I had the same problem and here is how I fixed it. When I have safari open and I turn my phone sideways, the bookmark bar appears on the side. I then clicked the icon that looks like a book to the left of my address bar and the bookmarks side bar went away. (Notice that it is highlighted in picture one and not in picture two)

It could be different on a iPhone. On a iPad the Show Favorites bar is screenshot 1. The Favorite bar itself is screenshot 2.

Settings>Safari>Show Favorites Bar>Off

Tap on solid blue bookmark icon On top left to go full screen.

After update to IOS 8.0.2, my iPAD 2 does not work.

The display shows only the apple, HELP!!!

Actually, this problem is a bug introduced by ios 8. It should not be necessary for a user to minimze the bookmark list after a bookmark has been selected, as it was before ios 8. Apple should fix this bug today. They should be embarassed by it.

Does anyone know how to get this to go away permanently so you do not have to click on the button every time you want to use a bookmark and have the bar go away? I couldn't get it to work this way by adjusting the settings options for safari.

The bookmarks bar should go away after selecting a bookmark, not requiring another press of the bookmark button.

FOr clarification - it happens on ipad in landscape mode.

I Totally agree. I have spoken to Apple about this on several occasions and was informed at least twice that this was an enhancement. I consider this to be a bug that should be fixed immediately, along with moving bookmarks back to the right side.
