iPhone 6 health data is gone

I got my iPhone 6 on launch day and it was immediately tracking steps, flights climbed and total mileage. Today, after 6 PM all that data disappeared and the health app dashboard was empty. I can't seem to get my data back even after I've re-added those three items to the dashboard. If I go to show all data, it just tells me there is no data. I have rebooted the device, but everything is still blank.

I can't seem to find anything online where this was working and then it stopped, nor data cleared out.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

8.1 still does not fix my issue. The only difference is that Steps and Walking + Running Distance is on the dashboard.

  • No data can be added, transferred or stored.
  • Manually adding a data point does nothing. data isn't recored.
  • Cannot turn off an App's ability to read or write data. turn off switch - exit - go back to sources - setting is back on again.

This is true for both the Sources in Health and in the Privacy section of General Settings

  • Health locks up when I select the "Me" section of the Health Data - force quit is required.

upon force quit and relaunch, data such as Birthday and Blood type can be added, but are erased upon exiting back to the main Health Data section

  • Added items to the dashboard are removed when the app is closed and reopened.
  • General->Settings->Privacy->Diagnostics & Usage ->Data - is full of crash reports for Health. Literally a new one every 1-2 seconds for over 10 minutes.

all crash reports appear to be for Health.

I am having exactly the same result as you. When Health first came out I added lose it and withings to the apps as well as Jawbone Up. I saw some data but after the first correction and second, all data disappeared. 8.1 came up just as you described with the 3 dashboards you list. I never added them to begin with .

After reading your comments I also checked the crashes and it is just as you describe.

According to Apple

Use Health on your iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 8

health data isn't backed up unless you encrypt your backup. Very stupid if you ask me for Apple to decide that this data is somehow more sacrosanct than any other data I have on my iPhone. If I backup my phone, I expect it ALL to be backed up. If I was worried about the security of my health data, I would choose encryption, but that should be MY decision. For Apple to decide its better for me to lose all my important health data just because I don't want to encrypt it is insane.

Spoke with Apple and he recommended a restore to new phone. I did that last night and now at least I am getting movement data from the phone itself. I have not reinstalled my third party apps yet. I use Jawbone up with band, lose it, and withings. I believe one of these is the culprit but until I find out which one or until they update something I am going to keep separate. I do not have that many apps that resetting everything is such a problem. As a matter of fact, a good clean out was in order.

I think the health app will become much more useful with the coming of the apple watch. I find the information displayed nice but not better than what the third party apps do on their own.

I Have exactly the same problems as Warped. I am unable to stop withings healthmate from locking control of all data. In pivacy there seems to be no way to reset the Health app database (there is a reset option for HomeKit, but nothing for HealthKit). In usage i see the health app is using over 400mb of data, but there is no way to delete the data, but there is for every other app !

hope ios 8.1.1 comes around soon with a health app reset function.

Sadly that is no option for me. Have several hundred apps and many of them do not use iCloud and then the data will be deleted (been using iPhone since 2008). Trying with restore two times already took one-work day to sort out. So I hope Apple find a solution to their Health bugs instead.

I think it can have been Withings and 8.0.2 that made it stop working. My partner used Up without problem.

The encryption requirement is probably HIPAA related. If their partnerships with medical organizations come to fruition (i.e. track your BP thru Health App, and it is automatically sent to your health provider), then this data could fall under HIPAA protection, of which encryption would be required. This is my slightly informed guess.

I find the Health (kit) App to be one of the worst app I have ever used in iPhone. It is really shocking this App is from Apple.

I am using iPhone6, and have iOS 8.1 (not yet 8.1.1). The data often disappears from the dashboard. When I say often, I mean often, multiple times a day. It rarely updates within 10 minutes of excercises. Sometimes (not all the time) when I reset the phone, It displays the data, but not always. Luckily so far I have not lost the data, since it eventually will display the data. But whenever it feels like displaying the data to me.

In addition, I see no correlation between steps and distance. I put a spreadsheet together to see how many steps in a mile. It varies anywhere between 2150 to 2500 steps. Not sure on what basis it varies like this.

I am very close to giving up on this stupid app, and go the route of fitbit or something else.

I will try to update to 8.1.1 and see what happens, but I am not holding my breath on that.
