Verizon iPhone 6 Signal Problem

I have an iPhone 6 64gb on Verizon Wireless. I have noticed a problem with my cell signal/reception. In an area where I have 5 bars in LTE, it will seemingly drop to 2 at random. Then, if I make a call, the bars will come back up to 5 after the call is complete. It will do this multiple times throughout the day. The other day I had 5 bars in LTE and tried to make a phone call. When I did, the phone dropped to 1 bar and I got multiple 'call failed' messages trying to complete the call. After I hung up, the bars would go back up to 5 in LTE. A couple of days ago, I had full bars in LTE but could not do anything with data. I had to shut my phone off and restart to get the data to work again. Is anyone else having this or a similar issue?

@FrozenOceanMD A poorly constructed PRL could be possible. I went to AT&T last night and opened a new line with a new number, just to have a SIM to shove in the phone and test. So far I don't think the issue has occurred in the usual places for me, but AT&T and Verizon have different coverage areas so it's hard to determine when it's AT&T coverage issues and if/when it's the issue that we are so upset over. Sadly I've noticed quite the speed drop in Brooklyn with AT&T LTE compared to Verizon's LTE but testing shall continue.

Everyone! Can you go to bugreport.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID?

FIle this bug for iPhone:

Summary:

When the iPhone 6 switches from LTE to 3G, 1x, or No Service (also sometimes WiFi), it does not switch back to LTE when the LTE signal becomes available again. This is affecting me as a Verizon customer. SIM card has been swapped, network settings have been reset in Settings.app and Verizon already "manually reregistered me on the network"

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Take a Verizon iPhone 6 out of LTE coverage area (ie: into the subway in NYC)

2. Go back into the coverage area for LTE

Expected Results:

iPhone should switch back to LTE

Actual Results:

iPhone switches back to 3G. Toggling airplane mode is required to reset it back to LTE.

Version:

iPhone 6 128GB Space Grey on Verizon Wireless postpaid plan

Notes:

This is a bug/issue that prevents me from using the device in any serious way as I cannot rely on it to receive the proper signal.

Configuration:

I tried with both LTE for Data Only and LTE for Voice and Data

Thanks

I have a 6 plus 64 GB phone and seeing the same problem. Additionally, when I do talk to people, there are times that they can't hear me and then I have to call them back.

This NEVER happened with any of my previous iPhones on Verizon.

I'm so frustrated!!!

It seems that my situation is not unique.

Has Apple/Verizon contacted anyone or found a fix for the issue? I have upgraded my iOS and am on the latest version with Apple Pay.

@NYYScott

Are you using Verizon's "Advanced Calling" feature? This feature only works with an LTE connection. If your LTE coverage is weak, quality can suffer and you risk dropping the call completely -- it will not transfer to the call back to regular voice on 3G if LTE is lost. I had this problem originally. My call kept dropping and call quality was poor because I didn't have a good LTE connection.

WOO HOO! I¹m not exactly sure what that will do, but hopefully someone at

Apple and/or Verizon puts some energy into tracking down the root cause of

the issue.

This is frustrating! I was going to purchase a bunch of Apple hardware for

my company over the next few months, and now I¹m reconsidering.

I¹m not quite at my breaking point, but I¹m pretty close.

Hello Guys..

I am very frustrated after my first ever purchase of Apple iphone 6. This is my first apple product. Since activating iphone 6 64gb space gray with Verizon, the very first day, I got a very strange issue with data connection. .... I am having from 0 bars to 3 bars, and that will variate all the time. In the daytime (roughly starting around 6 am till 11 pm), my data speed on LTE will be "100 kpbs to 400 kps"....and then suddenly between 11 pm and 6 am, data speed with be between 4 to 10 Mbps..."Some supernatural" activity or what??? Though no dropped calls or problem with receiving or making calls. Most of the time there will be LTE connection with 1-2-3 bars (fluctuating)...!!!

I talked with Verizon customer care and also to their supervisor and did everything like updating to 8.0.2 and also restoring and resetting, so in short everything. I also talked with Apple, they did run diagnostics. Now more pain to that I have battery issue. My phone is 5 days old. I am going to Apple store on Tuesday and see what they can do. Apple guy suggested me first going to Apple and then to Verizon to find any fix for this. Meanwhile, wifi is working fine. But the speed fluctuations during Day and Night,,,,that's something very weird.

Anyone with this kind of problem...let me know

I am glad I read the posts. Was just about to replace all 4s with 6 and 6 + but have decided to wait out this transition period until all the kinks have been worked out. It looks like Tim Cook might have initiated the old Microsoft launch model. We the customers become the test group. That unfortunately will be a reputation killer making Apple no different than the crap out there. 😟

Just switched over from AT&T, 4 Verizon iPhone 6's. On the family plan with the edge pricing plan. Dropped calls all over the Hudson Valley, NJ and the NY metropolitan area. Signal dropping and spiking from LTE to 1x and back, just like a lot of people.

First we were told to switch to roaming for voice and data, then to wait till iOS 8.1. It didn't help. Finally I called Verizon up and stayed not he phone till they got an apple rep to help.

The apple technician advised that the problem is with the Verizon volte network not working well with the new phones. He had me switch the LTE from voice and data to data only....

i Told them one of the primary reasons I switched to Verizon WAS the new VOLTE capability. Uncomfortable silence from bothy he Verizon rep and the Apple rep. Basically, no resolution at this time and no idea when or if another softwa update would work. Not even sure if switching to just data will work either.

This his is out of control. I'm on the edge program and I'm thinking I'll just lay off the phones and go back to AT&T. I'll give it a few more weeks to see if it gets any better.

whats amazing to me… is that I had all these same problems…

ended up replacing phone, 2 sim cards, rebooting the phone 4 times, on Skype for a total of 12 hours with apple and verizon reps..conference calls

because i could not make or receive phone calls...

(none of it worked and seemingly every time I talked with another rep..no one had any notes or anything to look at in regards to all the hours of prior communications…all the things we figured out it was not.. nothing… 0)

..after several more hours..and more conference calls with Apple and Verizon…it looks like it was something related to LTE/"Advance Calling" having a conflict… that only does the phone make calls..when you have a full 4g signal..anything less it would drop calls. We "figured" this out weeks ago.. I think it has been 3 weeks now.. and my phone has been working totally fine since the next morning. I changed nothing in my settings.. they changed something in theirs. Seemingly

YET.. still both Verizon and Apple have not announced anything… i am guessing if any of you call with the same problems… none of the people you are talking to..know anything about what the problem is

Don't blame them for their ignorance!!

The problem is systemic…
