Verizon iPhone 6 Signal Problem

I have an iPhone 6 64gb on Verizon Wireless. I have noticed a problem with my cell signal/reception. In an area where I have 5 bars in LTE, it will seemingly drop to 2 at random. Then, if I make a call, the bars will come back up to 5 after the call is complete. It will do this multiple times throughout the day. The other day I had 5 bars in LTE and tried to make a phone call. When I did, the phone dropped to 1 bar and I got multiple 'call failed' messages trying to complete the call. After I hung up, the bars would go back up to 5 in LTE. A couple of days ago, I had full bars in LTE but could not do anything with data. I had to shut my phone off and restart to get the data to work again. Is anyone else having this or a similar issue?

I have been running iOS 8.0 on iPhone 6 64gb since Oct. 1, 2014 @ 0945 CST.

While on iOS 8.0.2 I was experiencing the following MAJOR issue (as posted earlier): "My connection to the internet on WiFi, LTE, or 3G just stops. Can't load apple.com or get any email once it happens. If I Toggle into Airplane Mode and back, no change. Still no connection. Restarting the device (power-cycle) fixes the issue for a short while."

I have not had that issue re-occur since downgrading to iOS 8.0. Based on other users experience, I did begin to watch more closely the number of bars and did notice weak signal strength at random. This has not impacted calling for me (based on my usage). LTE data tests result in 4 Mpbs with one-two bars and 29+Mbps three-four bars. I agree there is an issue with the signal strength.

I did enable HD calling on my account (logging into Verizon.com) and turned it on on the iPhone Cellular settings. It is very nice to be able to talk and still have access to LTE internet on Verizon, a first for me.

So that's my update, I am still ok with iOS 8.0 since I am not having MAJOR issues. And the signal strength issue is MINOR for me as it is good enough in my area (Kansas City) that it's workable. --- Go Royals!!

This same problem happened with my iPhone 6 128gb brand new on Verizon. I found a fix that worked on my phone! My Ring back tones was enabled crating conflict running HD voice 1.0. Meaning Turn off you ring back tones and then activate the HD 1.0 Calling feature in your Verizon phone contract and you will be able to switch to Voice and data now instead of data only. After doing so confirm the change on your account then switch the enable LTE setting to "voice and data" then restart your phone! I hope this helps let me know if you have any questions about this!! I'll give you an update if anything else changes or reverts back to the old settings.

Your post got me thinking about the problem I'm having with dropped calls... I have the "Advanced Calling" (VoLTE) feature enabled on my account and on the phone. The problem with this feature, as explained in Verizon's FAQs (which also mentions ringback tones are not compatible), is that "if your call starts on the 4G LTE network and you move to a non-4G coverage area, your call will drop." Your calls will not transfer from LTE to 3G. Since my iPhone 6 is having a lot of problems connecting to, and maintaining, an LTE connection in otherwise strong LTE areas (iPhone 5 doesn't have this problem), this might explain why my calls are dropping frequently.

After several calls (using Skype)..total of around 12hours now.. with both Apple and Verizon. This does seem to be one of the main culprits. I also replaced my sim card at a Verizon store. Verizon on line turned off the advanced calling, but you also need to make sure that it is off on your phone..or when you restart..the software on their end will reset advanced calling when you turn your phone back on.

Verizon turned if off..but got a message today that "Advanced Calling" had been turned back on. Phone has been working fine without any missed or dropped calls all day. Also in Enable LTE (Cellular Data).. keeps on switching from Data Only back to Voice and Data.. which makes me think that they have reset advanced calling again. I was told by Verizon that they thought this was the problem..causing my phone to jump from 4g to 3g to 1+… Advanced calling with the iPhone 6 (they told me) does not work in anything except 4G. So maybe they have fixed this issue on their end?

Well, I finally got my replacement iPhone6 64gb from VZW. Less than 24 hours after I turned it on, my data problem happened again. I was able to to receive voice calls, but no data traffic at all (both LTE and WiFi). The new phone did solve the bluetooth issue I had started experiencing...but I suspect that is a software issue. The rumor is 8.1 will be announced (hopefully released) today at the Apple event...here's hoping it solves our issues with 8.x so far.

Trying to troubleshoot the LTE connection problems I am having, it has become more apparent to me that iOS 8.0.2 is likely the problem and not a hardware or network issue. There seems to be a lot of bugs in 8.0.2 with WiFi and Bluetooth, so it's natural to assume there are also bugs related to cellular connections since all of them use radios to transmit and receive signals. Hopefully 8.1 will fix these problems -- although I would recommend waiting to upgrade to make sure 8.1 isn't full of bugs also.
