Some people are going off topic from the OP, our problem is not resolvable by just rolling back to iOS 8.0, this thread began with people who received their iPhone 6 on launch day or prior to the 8.0.1 update with LTE issues. Please read the OP and don't just add on separate issues on this thread if they don't pertain to the OP, anyway I digress.
Here's my update guys to hopefully save the rest of you guys trouble...
OP- On my last & 4th replacement, here's the breakdown:
9/19 - (64GB iPhone 6) showing 2-3 bars & slow LTE signal
9/30 - (replacement 64GB iPhone 6) even worse, showing 1-3 bars & slow LTE speeds (I was told by Verizon support that LTE signals are sometimes weaker on new phones but become stronger after a few days. I was a bit skeptical of this claim, seems unlikely but who knows).
*10/01 - (32GB iPhone 5s) showing SAME 2-3 bars but FASTER LTE speeds (tested with a speed/connectivity App). Only issue was the apple rep couldn't even turn on the phone & activate the device at first because it was a DEC 2013 build sitting on the shelves for almost a year (I looked up the build date when I got home). I wanted to just exchange it on the spot but he misinformed me that it would take 24hrs for the upgrade eligibility to reset (he was wrong, you can exchange immediately I found out the next day).
10/02 - (Last replacement 32GB iPhone 5s) What I noticed was I still do in fact get the same 2-3 bars in areas where I see other verizon LTE phones with full 5 bars (compared signal strength to an iPhone 5) but LTE speed tests show that they're the same now when before with the iPhone 6 it was slower than the 5. Now my 5s is the same as the 5 in terms of LTE speed but not in "bars". I'm guessing it's an issue with both hardware & software. So my conclusion; first iPhone 6 was slower in LTE speeds, second iPhone 6 was worse & had more connectivity issues (not related to iOS 8.0.1 this is all on 8.0 or 8.0.2). So I suggest you should download a speed test app to so you can compare actual speeds in the troubled areas. FYI, if a neighboring verizon LTE phone is low on LTE bars, my 5s does not lose the LTE signal, it may be showing less bars compared to the other phone but speed tests have shown me its fine. Hope that helps everyone who has been plagued by this ordeal.
